“We enjoyed Number 19 so much in June, we are returning in August!”

Number 19 Geary is a new luxurious house, built on the site of a traditional croft in the village of Geary in Waternish, Skye.Geary has a magical feel to it. Some of the old crofts are ruins, others are run as smallholdings and supply eggs, bread, cheese and preserves to visitors. The views are superb, from Dun Can in Raasay to the east, across Loch Snizort to the Uig peninsula, and out to Harris in the West. Number 19 is designed to take full advantage of its unique location, the views from the bedrooms and lounge being spectacular. We felt we could sit all day on the verandah outside the lounge and marvel at the changing light, the beautiful seascape, and the surrounding hills. But equally, we felt drawn to the surrounding Waternish landscape, and enjoyed great days on Waternish Point, Beinn an Sguirr and Greshornish Point. We had fine weather in early June with a nice breeze and no beasties.
Number 19 is appointed to a very high standard throughout. The kitchen is modern and has everything you could wish for. The bedrooms and bathrooms are luxurious. But, really, we were reluctant to leave the lounge and that view.
Out and about, we would recommend the Loch Bay Seafood Restaurant. We ate here twice and both times were brilliant. The Stein Inn was also good especially when we could eat outside and enjoy the view.
So, Number 19 is a luxury retreat in a quiet corner of Skye, with magical views, and atmospheric places to explore. So much so that we have booked again for this month, and again for June 2013.
Oh, I almost forgot. If you sit patiently on the verandah, and idly watch the ferry to the Outer Hebrides, you might see White Tailed Eagles, Golden Eagles and Buzzards. We did!
Oh and I should mention the locals are special too, with that wonderful Highland lilting conversation and unfailing hospitality.

“5 star luxury with the best views in the world!”

We booked for a week after seeing the stunning pictures on the website. We were not disappointed, John, the owner was very welcoming and informative on our arrival and suggested several places to eat and places to visit which we found extremely useful.
The house is amazing!
We had our two teenagers with us and even they were impressed, anyone with teenagers will know this is virtually unheard of. The bedrooms are very well laid out and all had stunning views out to Uig across the sea so no complaints! The beds were beautifully made and extremely comfortable.
The lounge has 2 sets of patio doors and we found ourselves leaving them open to allow the outside air in, it was so clean and unpolluted! The grounds are very neat and well designed but by far the best feature is the stunning views, every time we looked out, there was something to see! We watched the Uig ferry sail off behind the islands, the fishing boats were in just below the bay and to top it all, we saw the Sea Eagle on Thursday. We had been told by the owner that they hunted from the top of the croft down to the sea and he was right! What an amazing site to be able to have seen.
We spent the first proper night at Stein Inn which was only a 10 minute drive away, it was pub grub which suited our lot as we certainly didn't feel like cooking after the long drive. We loved walking along to the pier and were totally mesmorised by the stunning views, we have totally fallen in love with this little part of Skye!
Whilst at Stein, we booked into the Seafood restaurant just a few doors along for the Tuesday night. It was fantastic, we are seafood lovers and were not disappointed! We cannot recommend the seafood platter enough, definitely the best seafood we have ever had on any of our travels, just a bit small is the only down side but definitely worst a visit.
We have had a truly brilliant holiday and have already looked to book again for next year. We were so impressed with the house, the owners have honestly thought of everything, we had a barbecue on the Sunday and sat and watched the world go by, so relaxing! We didn't even use the games room or the playpark, our kids were a bit to big for the playpark but they were too busy going for walks, even happy to walk to the road end to collect fresh eggs for the breakfast, to even bother to go up to the games room which is a real change from at home!!!
All in all, we would love to live here, the pace of life is so idillic and the stunning scenery is breathtaking, the clouds and sea are constantly changing so you could never get bored! The house is superbly decorated and has everything you could wish for, a hotel without other gusts!
