Paid £110 for 1 night in this hotel we booked a king size room but we got 2 single beds pushed together and in the morning they had separated leaving a big gap furniture was ripped and worn no towels in the room and the toilet seat was absolutely filthy complained when checking out but the staff were very rude so I would never recommend this hotel.

Second time for us at this hotel. Wasn't sure what to expect cos I'd read a few dubious reviews! Okay it's not 5* but then we didn't pay 5* prices! We paid for and got very good 3* room. good food and friendly efficient staff - what more can you ask? We didnt pay a fortune and we were more than happy with everything on our visit.
I don't know how people rate hotels: do they go with notebooks + dirtometers and spend their visits checking out everything! I dont need to run my finger over the skirting, look at the toilet brush (uggh) and check under the bed! So read some of these reviews with a pinch of salt - some people will never be pleased!

Room Tip: We were in disabled access rooms both visits and both rooms well furnished. We had a different loo...

Stayed in the Horizon Hotel, with my new wife :-) We had a lovely room and were made to feel really special. We had sunset walks along the promenade and had a lovely dinner in the restaurant. For starter we had the tempura prawns and for main we had a lovely steak cooked to perfection a nice coffee and felt very relaxed before heading up the stairs to our room, the views were nice and we were very comfortable. The rooms were well cleaned and had everything we required. Ayr is a nice place to visit and we would recommend to anyone for a nice weekend away which is both reasonably priced and well located.

Stayed here with my fiancé and our 2 year old for 2 nights. The hotel is right on the beach practically and has the most lovely view of the sea and beach but still is only 5-10 minute walk from the shops.

The hotel reception, bar and restaurant downstairs is very modern and done up lovely with sofas and tables, which was handy when sitting with a toddler. The menu is decent enough with prices that are very reasonable for a hotel, as some charge silly amounts.

The hotel doesn't have a proper lift, just one of the type you would see in a shopping centre, where you close the door and hold down the button until you reach the floor you need. We were staying in the attic bedrooms, which the lift doesn't go to but we were aware of this before our arrival.

The rooms are very basic with only the necessities. The bathroom is quite small but sufficient for a small family. Certainly not as modern and funky as downstairs in the hotel.

We ate in one night, which was simple but nice, as we just had a burger with chips. Breakfast is lovely with a good variety to choose from.

In my opinion and my fiancé's opinion we did not find our stay overwhelmingly brilliant but it was okay. The staff serve you and you get what you need from them but the majority of them could do with smiling from time to time. We sometimes found ourselves apologising for what seemed like disturbing them to ask for what we needed (which wasn't much, just a couple of drinks), yet they were on duty and we weren't disturbing them at all! On checking out we werent thanked or anything just had the money taken and off we went. We payed £80pr both nights so our stay totalled £160 which I think is expensive for this place and I certainly would not pay anymore.

Overall we had a good time and have no real complaints but I don't think we would stay here again, but overpriced for what it really is as a hotel. Walking In to the reception restaurant are gives the impression of a modern, chic hotel but it's really quite the opposite!
