We had the pleasure of staying in Garden Cottage for a full week over Christmas 2011. Mrs Hardie (owner) made the booking process very easy and was more than happy to accommodate any other requests we had prior to arrival.
The cottage itself is beautiful, very clean and so well equipped. I found it a very comfortable stay with our two small children and would highly recommend this cottage to anyone. It is located at the end of a quiet cull-de-sac and so we didn't have to worry about people walking past or any noise. We had a wonderful stay and I am looking forward to going back to Prestwick to stay here again.

Two couples stayed here for four nights in September, 2011. The location is good in a quiet neighborhood near downtown. Nice privacy and courtyard. Overall, we were comfortable and mostly satisfied.
The positives include good parking, large downstairs including living room and mostly well equipped kitchen. Accomodations are comfortable but not fancy. Master bed and bath is downstairs with two smaller bedrooms upstairs.
What could be improved? Owner doesn't accept any credit cards, so she wanted us to use PayPal. When we used PayPal, she wanted us to reimburse her for the PayPal fees that are charged to the merchant. We respectfully declined since this should not have been a surprise to here that PayPal charges fees to merchants. And when were leaving, she stopped by to remind us again that it would be nice to reimburse her for PayPal charges. While this may be a quaint Scottish approach, we did not think it was appropriate or professional. Also, we only stayed 4 nights and paid about 90% what the rate was for a week - so she was well paid for our stay.
Also, amenities are okay but not great. Limitations include small upstairs bath and no dishwashing machine. There is a clotheswasher but no dryer.

Spent a week in Dairy cottage while visiting family in Ayr and touring local area. The cottage was warm and cosy when we arrived. Mr Hardie popped round shortly after our arrival to check everything was okay and show us how to use the central heating.
The large open plan kitchen, lounge, diner is spacious and light with all the necessary facilities. It's walking distance to the beach and town centre so in an ideal location.
We were fortunate to have good weather for April so could enjoy sitting out in the small garden which is lovely.
Would definitely recommend for a family holiday.

Harbourview is a comfortable first-floor flat in a terrace on a very quiet street right beside the river Ayr. The kitchen and living room directly overlook the river, with the old town of Ayr on the other bank. We had an enjoyable, relaxing week here and the flat provides an ideal base for exploring Ayr and the surrounding area. The location is peaceful, but within easy walking distance of shops, cafes, restaurants etc, and the sea, just across the bridge.
The sitting room is a particularly nice place to relax, with two big windows overlooking the river, from which you can watch swans, cormorants, a flock of geese, ducks and seagulls, and see the changing colours of the water in different weathers. At night you can watch the lights of Ayr come on over the river. The kitchen is very well equipped and the bedrooms of a good size with comfortable beds. Generally the appearance of the flat was attractive and bright, without being fussy or so perfect that you are afraid to breathe.

Mrs Hardie, the landlady, was very welcoming, and was on call throughout our stay if we needed anything (we didn't). There is free internet access, which was a welcome extra.

Ayr itself is an enjoyable place to stroll around - it has all the shops you could possibly want, but retains its traditional character. Try to go to the beach on a clear day for the dramatic views of Arran. If you want to eat out, try Vito's - a really excellent Italian restaurant in the centre, in Burns Statue Square towards the station, and for a pub, try the Wee Windaes in Newmarket Street - friendly staff and good food.

Have just spent a week at Harbourview with my elderly mother, son and dog and was most disappointed. This pppartment is not in a nice area. Harbourviw is a little misleading as you can not see the harbour from the window only a small section of the river looking across onto boarded up buildings. From the back uou look onto a car park. There was no nice walks to take my dog and my son was unable to play out as it was too busy. There were a lot of pubs nearby which were rather noisy in the evenings and I was awakened by alarms going of in the surrounding derilict buildings. The seafront was quiet a distance and beacause my mother is unable to walk to far I had to take the car which meant following the oneway system all around Ayr.

The appartment itself was nice enough inside although we had to wash the crockery before using it and the cupboards were full of previous occupants left over food, a lot of which was out of date,

On the plus side it was only a shor walk to the shops.
