stayed in the cottage in June had a great week Cottage had everything we needed we have been going to nairn for about 20 years started at the caravan park then to cottages Sutors Hauf has been one of the best we have been to, nice and relaxing, bed really comfy so was the couch and with everything to hand it was nice to enjoy a glass of wine without moving to far sorry hubby....will be booking again.
We stayed in Sutors' Hauf for a week from 15th August and we can't praise it enough! The cottage is situated in a part of Nairn called Fishertown which is a charming area of the town, full of cottages where the fishermen of years past lived with their families. It really is full of character and a great place to explore. Everything you need for a great holiday is within walking distance. There are plenty of places for you to eat out or take away and there are all the other holiday essentials but without the buckets and spades and kiss me quick hats that you often find in seaside towns. There are plenty of pubs, shops and supermarkets and the beach and harbour (which are gorgeous) are less than a five minute walk away. Further afield, it is a fantastic base to explore the history and beauty of the Highlands, with the city of Inverness being about 20 minutes away. As history enthusiasts, we feel we only scratched the surface as there are tons of places of historic interest such as Culloden and Fort George close by.
The cottage itself has been beautifully renovated by the owners, who have a fascinating family history connected to the house. We'll leave you to check this out. It is spotlessly clean and far more spacious than we had perceived from the photographs. The living area has everything you could possibly need. There is a well equipped kitchen with all the mod cons that work perfectly. It was great to have a dishwasher and washing machine so we could enjoy our holiday without the chores normally associated with self catering. The open fire is a real bonus. We had a couple of chilly evenings and it was lovely to sit in front of the fire with a glass of wine instead of using the central heating. It makes the place really cosy. Super fast broadband was a must for us technophiles too, and this worked without a hitch. Sutors' Hauf is finished to a really high spec. The shower is fantastic and felt positively luxurious and there were plenty of white fluffy towels to make us feel really pampered. The bedroom is huge and well equipped and the bed was the most comfortable we have slept in, with a luxurious down quilt and plenty of pillows. It was a real home from home.
If you are a couple, looking for a quiet, romantic break in one of the most beautiful areas of the country in a quaint, immaculately renovated cottage a few minutes from the sea, then Sutors' Hauf is an excellent choice. Tt ticked all those boxes for us and was superb value for money too. We will certainly be returning.
