Lovely Apartment with everything you need to be warm and comfortable, home from home! A pleasure to come back to after a hard days walking in the Scottish highlands.
We were travelling with our dogs and the owner even provided doggie towels, there was washing machine and dryer which came in really useful.

A lovely break in the highlands in the wonderful Canalside townhouse which was home from home. Frances the owner stocked us up with biscuits and tea, which was lovely after our 9 hour drive from Essex in England. As well as being right next door to the lovely Neptune's staircase , it's also very close to Fort William and of course the great Ben Nevis. If we make the trip back here, we will stay at the townhouse again.

Its a great Apartment as a base to stay near Ben Nevis.

The mountain glowers above you over the top of the adjacent Moorings hotel (its not connected in any way to the hotel)

The apartment was very warm (which you may well need ) and well appointed over and above the norm for self catering in our experience.

The owner was extremely helpful and accommodating and provided many nice welcoming touches which just sets a really pleasant tone for the stay.

We didn't try the next door Moorings Hotel and you tend to have to drive to places to eat and walk but it would be no different in Fort William. The train station is a 2 minutes walk away and the local shop about 5 minutes drive away and Morrisons in Fort William about 2-3 miles away.

We stayed there to go up Ben Nevis -the only tourist attraction that would like kill you . Don't under-estimate the thing just because there is a tourist track up it.The walk is easy (ish) but not in a white -out. It was really dangerous even in May. No track, no features,no footprints, very disorientating and nearby huge drops. We went to the summit (and down) and got away with it but it was frightening even though we've walked a fair bit in the Brecons,N Wales and the Lakes in winter.

The area is fabulous and there are loads of other great walks/mountains and things to do and this is a great base to do it from particularly as there is a bit of a shortage of nice self catering accommodation in the area.

My husband and I stayed at A Canalside town house last week. The accomadation was excellent, it was like home from home. It is situated in a good location, it is easy to get out and about from there. You are literally very close to Neptunes Staircase and the Caledonian Canal. It is a pleasant walk along the canal. The Moorings hotel next door do lovely food at a reasonable price, you have everything you could want staying at Canalside. We will definitely go back.

Stayed here now for the second time whilst walking around Fort William. It really is a fantastic place. Great facilities, very modern house with wifi and comfortable furnishings.

About 6-7 minutes from Fort William in the car. It is adjacent to a pub that has a nice grassy playing area for kids. No noise from the pub whatsoever.

The house has it's own private parking space.

Highly recommended.
