Description: Open since 1995, the simple cooking and warm, friendly atmosphere has allowed The Mustard Seed to become one of Inverness’s favourite restaurants. The Location on the banks of the River Ness in a converted church building is simply stunning and helps create the wonderful ambience. The transformation from disused church to restaurant created a unique space; with a double-height ceiling and magnificent open log fire. Many of the original period features were retained and combined with a mix of natural and modern finishes. The addition of the terrace on the top floor allows alfresco dining and uninterrupted views of the River, another amazing asset for the restaurant.

Had lunch here last week and it was fabulous, 2 course for £9.99 per head and it was very tasty. Got a table by the window which overlooks the River Ness and the whole experience was superb. I would definitely recommend anyone visiting Inverness to go here for lunch. Staff were all very pleasant and helpful.

Visit here with friends on a busy Friday night.

The foot quality was great, and an excellent venue to meet up.

The service was excellent and enjoyed the meal.

This was very good and was a great find after a day of sightseeing. The restaurant is converted from an old church which give it character and, or course, history.

A must try if you’re in the area! This restaurant serves really good beef & venison; & the sauces were so perfectly made to go with the meat! Loved the ambience, the service... We love it there! Will definitely visit again when we are back!

The Mustard Seed still rates as my favourite restaurant of all time and is a definite on the visit list whenever I am in town. With a weekly menu change, this visit with friends was for Early Evening Dinner and as usual, it did not disappoint. I opted for the garlic mushroom bruschetta with parmesan, rocket and sunblush tomatoes followed by the special of tempura vegetables with lemongrass scented rice and soy and chilli dressing – both were absolutely delicious and were accompanied by a selection of oven roasted mixed vegetables and potatoes. Dessert was a mouth watering panacotta (and the occasional pick from my friend’s choice of the Cheeseboard!). I have visited The Mustard Seed many times over the years, from when it first opened to its current status as one of the most popular restaurants in town – whereas previously you could usually walk in and get a table without waiting, these days a reservation is strongly recommended but the atmosphere remain as welcoming as ever. I always recommend it to visitors to the city and have never heard any bad reviews. It’s probably sad to admit that I still check out their menus when not in town just to see what I am missing – another excuse to return back permanently to the Highlands in the future!!
