I have stayed at this B&B a few times....by myself, with friends and with my husband. There are two comfortable rooms with excellent views to the cairngorm mountains. There is a conservatory area where you can make tea/coffee and have a biscuit, read one of the many books etc. There is a lovely area to sit out in which is just above the reindeer centre......there has always been at least one red squirrell to watch when I have visited. The only thing that I can say is a problem is that in midge season they will eat you alive if you sit outside unless you are one of the lucky people who they don't find tasty, this is true of anywhere in the area though. Mary encourages you to feel at home.....is full of useful information and of tales from the area. I have to say that she cooks about the best breakfast I have ever had......porridge and haggis have always been on the menu when I have visited. Hopefully I will be visiting again this year as not been for a while. Visit the cafe by the caravan park nearby for tea and cakes, a snack meal and to watch the birds and squirrells............fantastic walking every direction that you turn....simply the best area to visit if you love the mountains! p.s.The last date I stayed was about 2 years ago but not given an option past 2011.

Stayed at Cairn Eilrig for a snowboarding holiday. It's the perfect location for this, just a few minutes drive from Cairngorm mountain or a short walk to the bus stop. The weather let us down as the mountain was closed due to high winds. There was plenty more to do though and Mary was more than helpful in suggesting alternatives as she's a mine of local information. Breakfasts and views were amazing too.

What a place! Fantastic location with a panoramic view of the Cairngorms. I would stay there just to look out the window. The accomidations are adequate and nothing fancy. Our host was great fun and very, very personable. If you want a great base to stay at for exploring the hills this is it. Some of the major trails into the mountains start 100 yards behind the B & B. We will be back!
