I tend not to believe everything I read on TripAdvisor prior to staying in hotels. Unfortunately on this occasion, everything was true if not worse!

The most uncomfortable bed I have ever slept in (you could feel every spring), black mould throughout the shower room, the shower door was hanging off, paint was peeling off of the walls in the room itself. The overwhelming smell of damp really hits you as you walk in the room and the state of the carpet was deplorable.

The staff are also not the most approachable - apart from the chap serving the breakfast who did smile at least! In fact, the breakfast was surprisingly good, the are clearly using good ingredients.

Alas there was no alternative accommodation available in Aviemore the night we stayed here but rest assured, I will never stay here again. Live and learn - please believe everything on here and do not stay here!

My daughter and her husband booked to stay at the Inn from the 27th December 2016 for a few days. Details of payment were taken at the time of booking but payment was not made. Unfortunately, my daughter has Cystic Fibrosis and has now suffered a severe chest infection. Obviously, they are now unable to travel. I called the hotel on Tuesday to cancel on their behalf, only to be told that this was not possible, even though it was still a full week before their arrival date and that my daughter was in hospital. I explained the circumstances and offered to produce a hospital note to confirm. Even asked if it could be postponed to a later date but the person I spoke to couldn't have been less helpful or made it any clearer that he couldn't care less. He was taking the full amount of money and would not even discuss the matter further. I spoke to Booking.com (who it had been booked through) and they promised to help. Sadly, they received the same negative response. I have never known a hotel or Inn where you cannot cancel a room after booking and certainly not in these circumstances. Be aware if you book to stay here, once they have your card details they will use them whatever you decide.

We were looking forward to visiting here after reading the previous poor reviews. However, this turned out be exceptional value and a good night's stay which was cheaper than the hostels and bunkhouses we had stayed in. £30 with full breakfast was great off season value. Staff were fine. Bed a little lumpy, some dust behind the bed but truly can't grumble about anything serious. Karaoke was on until 1am, but could hardly hear it despite being right above the bar. For what we paid and our expectations, this was great and would come back here even if it was slightly dearer.

very disappointed. Room decor very poor, dust in lots of locations (including main lampshade). Cobwebs in the room. Shower base -heavily soiled with black/dark looking mould. TV in room far too small for the room. Cooked breakfast very poor (sausages burnt black and tasted of fish!) Many rooms are above the bar - could hear a lot of noise (and the bar wasn't full or indeed any live music!). Beds uncomfortable. Wouldn't stay again.
Good points -Location is quite good, and the room was centrally heated.

Needed a place to stop over on my way to a funeral, so booked this place.
Barman was very nice and the place looks great from outside and in the bar / restaurant. But then you go to your room, the place needs help a lot of help.
The room was cold with no heating on it smelt damp and was damp.
The walls needed painted (a lighted colour) as damage is all over and the room was dark. Bathroom cold damp and everything apart from the cub board under the sink was damaged. Breakfast was not to bad but only had eggs and bacon not much can go wrong with that.

Room Tip: Book somewhere else
