“Warm And Welcoming Stay”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 14 March 2012

I stayed here a few weeks back for two nights to catch the last of Scotland's tortuousness skiing season with my two cousins and a friend. We arrived very late on at night, but we were told by the owner it wouldn't be a problem. Once we arrived, we were given a very warm welcome and shown to our comfortable, well furnished and presented rooms (as you can tell from their website pictures). The beds were a particular highlight; I usually have a bit of trouble sleeping when I'm not in my own bed but they were extremely comfortable which is a major bonus when you're sleeping away.
Being strangers of Aviemore, the owners were very helpful in telling us where to find the best food (and beers!). The morning after, were arose to a cooked breakfast which was more than enough to soak up our hangovers. A first class establishment with first class hosts - highly recommended!!

Room Tip: Great views from top room!

Dunroamin is an extremely professionally run, warm and welcoming place to stay. I felt that nothing was too much trouble for Lorraine and Jim who made me feel more than comfortable as a solo traveller. I was also given a competitive, single person's rate (in a good sized, beautifully furnished double room along with a modern, fitted en suite) and this was hard to find in Aviemore unless you were happy to use bunk house style accomodation, which really is not for me as I really enjoy my home comforts!

Dunroamin is situated on a quiet road, with only a few minutes walk to the amenities - a car is not needed (if you don't want to bring it) due to easy train and bus links. The accomodation itself is immaculately clean and well thought out, with attention to detail of those little extras.

I'm not a great early morning eater, however everything is provided for all kinds of appetites - and plenty of it... from cereals, toast, fruit and yoghurts to full cooked breakfasts along with daily specials including, eggs, salmon and bagels. If you don't want breakfast, there is the option of a packed lunch instead.

I would definitely recommend Dunroamin as a home from home base to explore the Cairngorms.

Beautifully furnished and very clean, as well as being very welcoming and friendly. Cannot fault the breakfast, a tasty special was put on every day (Smoked salmon & scrambled eggs, haddock and cheese omelette) as well as the normal Scottish Breakfast.

I would defiantly stay again.

5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 30 December 2011

Over Christmas week, we were lucky enough to stay in the new Dunroamin guest flat. We decided to go for a self catering holiday as we like to fend for ourselves a little. The Dunroamin guest flat has the best of both worlds. We had the freedom to come and go as we pleased in our own flat while still able to tap into the trusted local knowledge normally offered by guest house proprietors.

The flat was modern, tasteful and exceptionally clean. It seemed that someone had been round to polish the cutlery and glasses before we arrived!

When we first went through the door, we went exploring and came to a number of conclusions; Dunroamin have thought of pretty much everything! We were hard pushed to think of anything that should be there but wasn’t. Loads of hangers, decent iron and board, washing machine, dish washer, even a pizza wheel! Though after a week of living there, the only gripe that we had was there was no pasta drainer.

There was loads of spare bedding and tons of assorted sized towels in the airing cupboard.

The kitchen was well supplied as mentioned. With ample cleaning products, there was even dishwasher and washing machine tablets to save you going out and buying your own when you may only be doing a few washes throughout the week.

The living room is large enough to entertain 6 of 7 adults. There was Freeview TV and a DVD player.

The bedrooms are large and comfortable. The beds are of a high, guest house standard. Again, the attention to detail on cleanliness is very noticeable.

There are two wash rooms. Both were immaculate and of a high, guest house standard.

The flat is about 1mins walk from Dunroamin. It is about a 5min walk from the centre of Aviemore. To get to Aviemore you go out the door and turn left. Its easy to find and in a fantastic location.

I only got to meet Jim. He was honest and you got the sense that he would go well out of his way to make your stay as comfortable and enjoyable as he could.

To sum up, the flat is like a home from home. Its warm, comfortable, quiet and has an almost OCD attention to cleanliness. Next time I am up that direction, I intend to book again.

We stayed here for only one night whilst on a driving tour of Scotland and really appreciated the effort that has gone in to making Dunroamin such a nice place to stay.
Lorraine and Jim were very welcoming. We had a family room which consisted of a double bed and two singles, plus we had a travel cot in there as we were travelling with our nine month old baby. Even with all this the room was spacious. The ensuite was also a lovely size and both rooms were thoughtfully decorated. There was a lovely view of the mountains from our room which was nice.
We took the owner's recommendation and dined at the Cairngorn Hotel and were impressed. The food was lovely and the place full of locals which is always a good sign.
Breakfast the next morning was good and we left very happy with our stay.
