Description: Our Glasgow City Centre restaurant has been open since November 2006, and has become one of the most popular restaurants in Glasgow. We attribute this success to our freshly prepared tapas & friendly staff who are always happy to explain our menu and suggest their favourites. We do not compromise on the quality of our raw materials and offer a wide variety of vegetarian, meat and seafood dishes. These are great to share with groups of friends or family, and are a perfect combination when accompanied with one of our Spanish wines, speciality cocktails or our authentic sangria.

“WHAT?!”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 6 March 2012

I have visited Cafe Andaluz a few times before, and the food and service were very good. But the reason for this average review is that last night me & a friend went into Cafe Andaluz and we just wanted some coffee & dessert (their cheesecake is rather good). However, we were turned away at the door by a man who said "this is a restaurant, not a coffee shop." What kind of business, in their right mind, turns away business?!

I will be returning next month with family for my Aunt's birthday & I will be bringing this into conversation.

“Spoilt by terrible service”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 4 March 2012

Good atmosphere, though a bit too noisy owing to stone floors and blank walls, fairly authentic Spanish appearance. The greeter was very good and we got our table within a few minutes of the booked time.
Unfortunately the service went down hill from there. After some time drink orders were taken but never arrived, someone else came to order the food and came across as quite rude (maybe it was a language thing), making negative comments about everything including "I wouldn't feed my children that".
Another waiter turned up and asked if we were his table and had we ordered drinks from him - "no, we ordered from that man" we said indicating the original waiter on the otherside of the room. To which the reponse was 'oh never mind'. And that was that.
The food turned up and we asked about the drinks from the waitress, she told us to forget about him as he hadn't done it and to just order again, at which point waiter no1 came back and rifled through his notepad. Finally he found the order and went off to get it.
The drinks came and one was wrong, so had to go back again.
Food was fine, not brilliant and certainly your average Spaniard would have been disappointed with some dishes.
Then time for the bill. We had to go through the usual routine of getting someone to give us a bill. Finally we found someone (not one of the previous 3 people) who got us the bill. Then we waited 10 minutes for anyone to come and take payment. We did ask the person who brought the bill in the first place as she passed, but then she never came back and our official waitress had completely disappeared.
In the end we took the bill up to the exit pay .
I have to say that this final scenario is not unusual and something that I will never understand. So, note to restauranters: when people have finished their meal they will either want to buy something else or they will want to pay - don't be pushy but ask if they want the bill, don't just disappear. Secondly when you finally do manage to get the customer their bill there is good chance that they will want to pay it and leave, it is unlikely they will then want to sit and stare at it for 20 minutes. SO once you have provided the bill make sure you come back quickly to accept payment. Apart from anything else this is when the tip is going to be made, so keeping people sitting around isn't going to endear them to you.
This may all sound a bit unimportant but restaurants justify their prices on the basis that it is the whole experience not just the food. In which case the whole experience needs to be good.
The Ramsey comment would be - who the hell was in charge? Why didn't orders go and why didn't staff even know which was their table?

“Bias due to my love for tapas!”

Cafe andaluz is a traditional spanish resturant, intimate and always busy so book in advance. Regular deals should be taken advantage of as the food is wonderful and staff are friendly and helpful! A must if visiting the city centre!

“the best tapas in scotland!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 2 March 2012

what a wonderful and friendly service we recieved at cafe andaluz in the city centre of Glasgow. The food was so nice, we ordered 14 dishes between 4 of us , each dish different, and all so nice! My favourite was "carne de res picante" strips of tender beef with manchego cheese and rocket. We Also reccommend the "pollo con miel" chicken with honey and the solomillo con setas wich is a beef and mushroom dish in a tasty sauce. Please dont miss out on the goats cheese with orange marmalade or the stuffed aubergines. such a great choice opn the menu, theres no doubt you will find something to your taste and delight. love love love this place. if i could give it 10 stars i would.
They set the scene with stunningly traditional decor and spanish music. the atmosphere takes you straight into the streets of spain.
