“Very comfortable stay”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 24 April 2012

We booked the HGI as we wanted to be close to the Clyde Auditorium (2 minutes walk). Room had been recently refurbished and was very nice. Free wifi through an iMac in the room which also served as a TV. Small but perfectly functional bathroom/shower room with plenty of toiletries if you need them. We ate in the City Cafe and the food was excellent. There is a lovely big outdoor space with tables and chairs overlooking the river, it is in a lovely location.

Taxi to the city centre cost less than £5 each way but it's around a 15/20 minute walk if you are that way inclined. There is also the option of walking down to the SECC and catching the underground into Glasgow Central station.

Car park costs £5 per night however we found that reasonable as some other hotels charge more. We will definitely stay here again.

The hotel is billed on some sites as city centre but it is a good 15 minute walk (or £6 taxi ride) from the main shopping centre of Glasgow. It is however ideally suited for trips to the SECC or the Clyde Auditorium (both 2 minutes walk away).

The rooms in the hotel have everything you could possibly need for a short stay. An IMac computer is provided with free internet access and doubles as the rooms entertainment system with TV and radio all provided through the PC. Other amenities include tea and coffee making facilities, a radio alarm clock, safe, fridge, ice box, wine glasses, iron and ironing board and neutragena bathroom cosmetics.

The room is very stylish with chrome fixtures and fittings and a very large and comfy leather chair. A separate (and equally comfy) chair is provided for use with the desk. The bed is very comfy indeed and you may struggle to drag yourself out of it in the morning. The good news however is that you have a late checkout time of 12pm so you can enjoy it for that little bit longer.

Overall very impressed with the Hilton Garden Inn. My only negative comment would be the £5 car parking charge which could be justified if the hotel was closer to the centre but being situated where it is it does feel a bit much having to pay to park your car overnight.

Would stay again.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on a high floor (5th floor is top) for good views.

Stayed one night with my daughter and had a refurbished room with a river view. Very quiet, small room but there was still space for 2 chairs and a small table. Nice location, walked over the Squinty bridge along the Clyde. Food in Restaurant and a breakfast was great. Very lovely staff at frontdesk and restaurant, especially Clare. Will come back.

Room Tip: Book a room with a river view and dine in the restaurant.

Stayed here for one night whilst going to see CIrque du Soleil at the SECC - 5 minute walk away. We were in one of the recently refurbished rooms, on the top floor facing the Clyde. Compact room but more than adequate for a short stay - large very comfortable bed, iMac with TV, free WiFi, plenty storage, ironing board, dressing table, powerful shower, nice toiletries. No hairdryer though. We received a Scottish goodie box in the room which was a nice touch - Irn Bru, Tunnocks tea cakes, tablet, shortbread, Strathmore water.
We ate in the restaurant before the show and the food was faultless - chicken, bacon, avocado & blue cheese salad followed by beer battered cod, chunky hand cut chips and mushy peas. The breakfast was equally impressive - selection of fully cooked or continental.
Car park was £5 for overnight parking.
Would definately stay again if at a show at SECC - just make sure you walk back to hotel fast after your show if you want don't want to queue at hotel bar!

Dear Guest,

Thank you for your review.

It is great to read that you enjoyed your stay and your dining experience in City Café.

The hair dryer is located in the drawer inside the wardrobe.

Hopefully it will not be long before you stay again.

Stayed one night with my son and I cannot fault this hotel in any form. Check-in was quick and efficient with friendly staff, room was clean, bed was comfy and the free wifi was nice to have and on a nice quality Apple PC as well.
Breakfast was superb, the food was lovely and fresh, really good quality and I can honestly say the best hotel breakfast I have ever had. I noticed the staff looked out for children who were helping themselves from the buffet and assisted them when it was required.
I know this hotel looks like a big square box next to the Clyde but, and I mean BUT, don't let that put you of booking. It will be the first hotel I'll be trying to get into when visiting Glasgow again.
For info...I booked this direct through the Hilton Garden Inn web site to get the best deal.
