“Excellent value & friendly staff”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 9 September 2012

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Kelvin Hotel. From the friendly greeting from Sandra when we arrived to our reluctant departure to return home - everything was great! We stayed here for a total of 8 nights (broken up by several nights visiting other locations in Scotland) & the room was always clean, bright & cheerful. Breakfast was always fresh & appetizing. Staff - especially Sandra - was always friendly & very helpful. Great value & excellent location to pubs, Botanic Gardens, Kelvingrove Park, the subway which gets you anywhere & also close to a Hop-on-Hop-off city sightseeing tour bus stop. Will definitely stay here again next time we're in Glasgow & will recommend it to friends.

Stayed here for 2 nights in a huge family room. The room was very clean and comfortable and also had a tv and sofa. The hotel could do with some redecorating and is quite dated but the rooms are nice and provide excellent value for money. The lady who owns/runs is lovely and really friendly. Great breakfast! Good location would recommend to families and couples

This was the first of many b&b's we stayed in during a 2 week tour of Bonnie Scotland. It wasn't exactly The Ritz, it's dated, could do with spending some money on the rooms if no.10 was anything to go by!

When the person in the room above moved about it made the glass light shade on our ceiling rattle which was a bit annoying in the middle of the night, funny when we talk about it now!

The breakfast was pretty basic.

If you are on a budget then it's fine, if you have the money use it.

We have just spent 6 nights at this hotel, the room was very spacious and clean,we had the use of their free car park and were near the Botanic Gardens and the excellent restaurants around Byres rd.
Sandra was really friendy and helpful with advise about Glasgow and all the staff made us feel
welcome.
We would definately stay here again if we returned to Glasgow as it was excellent value for money.

We wanted to find a hotel close to where my sister and her family were staying in the West End of Glasgow and after reading the Tripadvisor reviews, we decided to stay at Kelvin Hotel. A good choice. We had booked a twin room and were given a family room on the second floor, with lots of space and a well-sized bathroom. The hotel has obviously been taken very good care of and we found it to be clean and comfortable.

The breakfast room was cosy, located on the first floor to the front of the house, overlooking Great Western Road. For breakfast there was a choice of fruit juices, cereals and cooked breakfast. Good service both from the woman who received us when we arrived at the hotel and from the girl who served our breakfast.

A slight problem with the shower was quickly fixed. My only quibble is that there could have been more towels.

I've just read on Tripadvisor that the hotel has been taken over by a new owner, I hope that he will not change too much of this small hotel gem.

Room Tip: Note that there is no elevator in this hotel.
