Simple hotel, but everything it does, it does well.
The rooms are well furnished with high Victorian cellings.
The beds and linen are very comfortable, in the bathroom there is a generous supply of hot water and towels
At the bedside there are USB charging sockets.
The in house menu is simple balanced and when the food arrived it was just right.

Breakfast!! top marks for the cooked breakfast.

Way over priced for what is on offer. Described as a FOUR STAR hotel. Nowhere near it. 2 star at most. 650 pounds for three overnights not including breakfast (which was quite good but cost an additional 71 pounds).
Room very small. Broom cupboard that had a "double" bed that was too small for us but took up almost the whole room.. Nowhere even to store suitcases! Tiny single wardrobe. No room for anything larger. Staff left curtains open during the day when we had closed them before we left in the morning due to sun shining directly into the room. Exceptionally hot weather. Was like a sauna at night until we complained.
Toilet would not flush!
Unable to get to sleep before 1 AM due to excessive noise and partying going on in the hotel.
Over all a depressing experience.
We would not recommend it at all. Sadly.

Room tip: Never a four star hotel. Poor.

The hotel is very nice and clean. The staff is helpful. The room was a bit small with even smaller TV. The bathroom was big with a bath tub. The water pressure in the shower was very very weak and the temperature of the water was unstable. They had a breakfast buffet which we didn't take as it was extra. They had a kettle, 2 tea bags and 2 cookies in the room.

Situated just out of the city centre, the hotel has street parking thereby avoiding the expense of parking in the city. Reception was very good. Caroline (I think) was very helpful and welcoming. Our rooms were very good although I have to say it was very warm and the window was on a safety chain. My only criticism of our room was despite having a paper seal over the toilet proving it had been cleaned, there was a skid mark in the toilet. There was no brush with which we could remove it so we just stared at it all night! The bar was good although I found it odd they had plenty draught lager but only bottled beer. We did not dine in but had breakfast. Daniella was our waitress and she was very chatty. We had some good banter and she showed us pics of her cat. I like it when staff see you as human and not just something to be served and moved on. Apart from the heat we enjoyed our brief stay. We would have liked to have had the time and weather to use their extensive beer garden but hope to find an excuse to come back and stay again.

Arrived really early but was welcomed with lovely coffee. We didn't expect to get into the room but every effort was made to make the room ready. The breakfast was very nice. We couldn't get the wifi as we were outside the main building, the lounge area in the suite needed updating as the furniture had seen better days but the beds were comfortable and the bedding and towels were of top quality. Would stay again.
