We stayed at CitizenM in Glasgow in April 2012 and had for the most part a very enjoyable stay. Rooms are small and are meant for couples or singles. If you are travelling with a friend this is not the hotel for you as there is no real privacy between the toilet, shower & the king size bed. All rooms are the same size with no option of adding a cot or crib. The staff here go out of their way to ensure your stay is comfortable. We had a lot of random problems while we were here but each time the staff took on each situation with the outmost sincere desire to help and fix the problem. The hotel itself is very trendy, in a terrific location and very clean.

This hotel was very unique and modern! From self check in right through to room amenities. Check in was a breeze, providing your card details and assigning your own key card. The hotel room was very fresh with multi colored light changer. The remote also has your name on the screen when you get in which is a nice touch. The shower too was fun with disco light mode on so having music playing with changing lights. The black out blinds too were great as we had a nap in the middle of the day in complete darkness. The proximity to all the clubs and shopping made this location perfect. The price was very cheap & £80 and would most definitely stay here again

Room Tip: A room around the front would have been better as our room was at the back

Excellent hotel - Clean, good bar, cheap, and very very funky.
Will not be to everyone's taste but really liked the mood pad - changing the colours of the room and also the blackout blind aided a peaceful sleep on the HUGE bed.

There is storage under the bed and we never felt crampt at all.

Excellent hotel - will stay again.

We booked this hotel anticipating a tiny room to lay our heads while we got out to see the town and not much else. It turns out we were sorry to leave.

While the rooms are quite small they are designed to maximise floor space and they manage to provide a sense of space and openness that meant we didn't get any sense of claustrophobia (as I often do in small rooms, especially after a day or so). The bed occupied the entire width of the room, which meant it was actually enormous, and incredibly comfortable complete with beautiful linen and soft but supportive pillows. There was a large storage drawer beneath the bed, which helped to keep as much floor space available as possible, as well as a safe for securing valuables. Hooks on walls, a little shelf space and good mirrors and lighting all contributed to a really intelligent, usable design. The only suggestions we would have made were for there to be a couple of hooks and small shelves in the shower/toilet cubicle for towels, clothes, toiletries, etc.

The shower/toilet cubicle was brilliant, with a fantastic shower with rainwater and removable shower heads, great water pressure and steamy hot. There was no water on the floor - all very neat and tidy. The funky coloured lighting system was fun and made the whole thing into a great room feature instead of just a practical solution to a space problem. The hotel also supplied body wash in the shower, which was a nice touch. Towels were big, white and fluffy.

The entertainment system was great too, with loads of free movies, TV, flight information and more. You could use it to set an alarm which utilised the coloured shower lighting to wake you in a subtle and fun way too. I guess I'm just a kid at heart who loves coloured light shows, but I thought it was a great feature.

Breakfast was good value and in my opinion better than that offered in some 4 and 5 star hotels, served in a really stylish dining area - coffee of your choice (espresso, latte, etc.), good cooked breakfast, juice and croissants. Adjacent is an extensive lounge area with computer terminals available for use - although we used the free wifi (which reached all the way to the sixth floor without a problem) while we were there so didn't need the desktops. Downstairs is a members-only lounge targeted at frequent travellers/business people. From the outside it looked like a cutting-edge interior design showroom. Very cool.

On our first night we were woken at around 4am to noisy revelers returning from a night out - our one quibble is that the walls and doors are probably a little thin and could do with sound proofing (although this was the only time we were disturbed during our two-night stay). We phoned reception and five minutes later they were silenced, and in the morning I noticed an email from management sent at 5am apologising for the inconvenience and a note to say we had been credited with a free breakfast. Pretty damned decent of them I thought.

The location was pretty good, less than five minutes walk from the bus station and within easy walking distance from most things downtown. We easily walked through Kelvingrove Park to the university and on to Byers Road in the West End. A black cab to Byers Rd costs five pounds.

Overall this place was a huge surprise. Services and features that you'd expect from a 5-star hotel for a budget price - incidentally we had actually just come from a 5-star hotel which had less comfortable beds, a shower that wasn't as good and service that could be improved upon in comparison. I can't recommend it highly enough.

Best hotel I have stayed in for a long time. Very simple, functional, modern and minimalistic. What more do you need.
One (1) remote control regulates lighting, tv, movies, radio, blinds etc. One big bed and thats is. I love the simplicity of it. This is the way we should all live. Simple living.
(but avoid the greasy bean and sausage Scottish breakfast - where the healthy (modern) alternative?).
