My husband and I booked into the Sweet Chestnut and were very pleased with our room. It was spotlessly clean, the bed was very comfortable and the room had everything we needed........except communication from room to reception. There was nobody on duty in the hotel at all and a notice directed us to the pub/restaurant next door. I didn't like this for more than one reason. Anyone coming in with a load of luggage would have to haul it from hotel and through restaurant to check in. Yes there was a reception sign outside pub but for anyone parking further up the car park they wouldn't have seen it. There was also a bit of a commotion around 2 in the morning of the first night of our stay and there was no way of contacting anyone for assistance, not even a phone link from room to a duty manager. On saying all this, I could find no other fault. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the food was lovely (you need to work on your Yorkshire puddings though, quality not quantity). All in all, we had a lovely weekend and will be back.

Went in during the week for a carvery and to be fair it wasn’t the best. Staff took ages to acknowledge us even tho it was very quiet. Went for carvery Yorkshire pudding were dripping in grease, potatoes were well over cooked and even when I complained they just said sorry and walked away wouldn’t go back.
