Description: Up and coming chef Jason Gallagher has done a fine job in turning the former haunt of local 'celebrity' chef Juliet Lawrence Wilson into a luxurious showcase of his own exciting style of Modern European cuisine. The basement space really is a lovely little restaurant for a romantic meal or special occasion. Black-painted walls decorated with modern art work well with plush golden upholstered chairs, thick white table linen and fairy lights to create an especially intimate atmosphere. Gallagher works with fresh, seasonal ingredients so the menu often changes, but the offerings are guaranteed to be indulgent and of the kind that feel like they're a real treat to be eating. Perfect service too.

“Another enjoyable evening”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 3 July 2012

It is several months since we were last in Edinburgh and are please we selected the Stockbridge again - there is so many places to choose from but again the Stockbidge proved to be the right choice.
The atmosphere is friendly, semi formal, there were still quiet a few men wearing jeans which was a little disappointing and the room did get a little warm as the night progressed. Service was spot on, there when needed without being in your face all the time.
The Pigeon starter was flavoursome just the right size as was the warm salmon starter then we followed with the Duck breast and Halibut which both again did not disappoint.
Even the coffee was robust in flavour with pettie fours that melt in the mouth.
Well done and heres to our next visit

“A lovely place for a romantic dinner”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 18 June 2012

I treated my husband to dinner at this lovely restaurant for his birthday. I had read much about it on this site so was tempted to try it - we were not disappointed.

The food was delightful, the wine list good if not extensive and the staff really attentive without being 'there' all the time. We would certainly go back.

There were a few couples and a couple of larger tables (6-8) but the noise level was very low. They also offer private dining which would be very good indeed I suspect.

“Skilled chef and good service.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 13 June 2012

My wife and I enjoyed a lovely dinner here on a sunday night in June 2012. It was BYO which we made the most of, taking a Hamilton Russell 2007 pinot Noir with us. We both had three courses and shared a cheese. I ordered a glass of the late harvest Ceravolo pudding wine which we had with dessert, it was excellent. The bill came to £84 which represents fantastic value considering the standard of food produced from the kitchen. The highlight of the meal was the venison starter my wife had, I managed to get a wee taste! Service was professional and unobtrusive. My only gripe, the table of Americans next to us were served a pre starter of smoked haddock which was a complimentary amuse-bouche. We didn't didn't have the pleasure. Will certainly be back. Please keep going with the Sunday night dining, its the only night of the week we can get away!

“Lovely relaxing Sunday lunch”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 10 June 2012

Had Sunday lunch here for a family celebration and couldn't have been more happy with our experience. They will open on Sundays to serve lunch for parties of six or more and there was one other table of diners. The intimacy and ambiance of the restaurant was just right. The set menu had ample choice to satisfy everybody and the price was very reasonable. Service was excellent - just the right amount of attention, without being fussed over. Will definitely be coming back here and would recommend it highly.

“Sunday evening dinner excellent value at £23.95 for 3 courses”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 5 June 2012

A very special restaurant in the heart of Stockbridge. Amazing food, beautifully prepared and presented with the bonus of being able to take along your own wine. Corkage £4 a bottle or £5 for champagne. We will definitely return!
