“Home away from home”
Reviewed 22 February 2015 for a stay in February 2015

This beautifully renovated home was a fabulous, fun venue for a family gathering last week.

Our group included kids aged 2 and 5 and 4 adults.

The property was spacious and very comfortable. The attention to detail was appreciated as was the high level of the eclectic furniture and furnishings. The living room was well equipped and easily accommodated the group.

As for the kids- the rumpus room was fantastic. It can be used as a bedroom, but we used it as a toyroom and the girls were happy to head off and be left to their own devices with the huge variety of toys.

The beds were very comfortable too!

In summary- more like a home than a rental.

Minor gripes- no full length mirrors in bedrooms and no waste bins in bedrooms. Also, side lights were needed in kids bedroom (the twin on 1st floor).

“We hit the jackpot staying at Nine Nelson”
Reviewed 8 December 2014 for a stay in November 2014

Every December I enjoy a long weekend away with three of my girl friends and this year we plumped for Edinburgh for it's great shopping, Michelin starred restaurants and cocktail bars. We enjoy the flexibility of an apartment rather a hotel so when one of my trusted Edinburgh based customers recommended Nine Nelson for it's great location and superb interior design I immediately booked it.

Communicating with owner Kate was easy and we were warmly met by Property Manager Jo on our early arrival from Suffolk after a silly o'clock flight from Norwich. First impressions as we entered the gorgeous apartment were of wonderful space with fantastic proportions where clearly every care and attention has been give to create a beautifully stylish and welcoming home.

We had booked an online supermarket delivery to come shortly after our arrival but as we waited for it after our 4am start to the day, the bread, milk, butter and coffee 'welcome pack" were hugely appreciated!

Each of the rooms is decorated and furnished to the highest standard with beautiful art, lighting and flooring. The beds were very comfortable and the bathrooms had under floor heating, terrific showers and Aesop toiletries.

The apartment is only a 5 minute walk from Harvey Nichols and also close to the Castle and National Portrait Gallery which we enjoyed. We also walked to Tom Kitchin's fantastic Scran & Scallie for lunch one day which was delicious.

We plan to return to Edinburgh soon and without question would opt to stay at Nine Nelson again. It exceed all our requirements for a luxurious weekend break and only wish we could have stayed longer. Thank you Kate and Jo for all your care and attention.

“Would I recommend? YES!”
Reviewed 14 August 2014 for a stay in August 2014

I am in the business of holiday letting and Kate's duplex is definitely top notch!
The apartment is furnished with the intention of ensuring comfort and preserving a home feel which is excellent.

We travelled as a family. Our groups' ages ranged between 4 and 61 and we ALL loved it.

The cherry on top is that communication with Kate is very easy and she is very understanding of her guests' needs. Also it is worth mentioning that we were welcomed with a smile and even had some shopping done on our behalf to get us started when we arrived. Thanks for smiling Jo and more importantly for waiting when our train from London was delayed :)

If ever in Edingburgh again, we will definitely book!

All the best,
The Tahboubs

“Fantastic - highly recommended”
Reviewed 10 August 2014 for a stay in July 2014

My husband loves Edinburgh and I had never been, so we decided to go there for a couple of nights to celebrate his birthday. At first my preference was to stay in a hotel, however my husband found Nine Nelson Street on the internet and it looked well located, and looked like a really nice place – well, I can say it lived up to my expectations. We were met on arrival by a lovely lady who showed us through the basic functions of the house, the house was immaculate. The facilities were of such a high standard even including things such as the bed linin and towels – it definitely had a wow factor! A kindly traffic warden showed us where we could park the car for £4 a day which was only a five minute walk away and the local facilities were fab. There is a lovely food place where we had breakfast on both mornings called Urban Angel – really great food and less than a five minute walk away. In the other direction less than 10 minutes away is an amazing bistro pub called Scran and Scalllie – we went there on my husband’s birthday night and thoroughly enjoyed it – the food was really amazing pub grub. There is also a great little place called Gardeners Cottage but this is a 15-20 minute walk away but well worth it. During the day we explored the city and it was great to do some shopping and be able to walk the bags back and start again without it feeling like it was a hassle. Overall great experience, we both thoroughly enjoyed staying at Nine Nelson and certainly would go back.

“Fabulous luxury base to explore Edinburgh”
Reviewed 30 July 2014 for a stay in March 2014

I booked Nine Nelson with three friends as an Edinburgh base for a walking holiday. The flat is in a lovely part of the city, very well located for all Newtown's charms, pubs and restaurants and it's a pleasant walk to the city centre. It was easy to find, and also very convenient for heading for the countryside for our walks. It's a gorgeous place to stay, with great facilities and a real sense of style which combines classic Edinburgh Georgian proportions with sharp contemporary style. The bathrooms are particularly luxurious and we loved the kitchen too - it was a real pleasure to knock up a hearty cooked breakfast in it! In short, lots of space, comfy beds, great location and I'd definitely stay there again.
