Staying at TigerLilly was a real treat - we had a beautiful room (and bathroom) and with its quirky lighting and masses of space we felt like we were staying somewhere a bit different. The restauraunt is excellent, and although Edinburgh is not short of good places to eat (many of them within a short walk from the hotel), we had a superb dinner here - 'first class' as another reviewer put it, and I would wholeheartedly agree. The service is spot on too.

I think this is the only hotel we've stayed at where we bought the bathrobe and slippers as a momento :-)

Was treated to this hotel last year for my birthday and could not fault it. It was luxurious and the place to be in Edinburgh. We were treated like royalty what a treat. She booked again this year and sorry to say it was not as good. We upgraded so the room was excellent but the main areas look good at first glance but at closer inspection are looking a bit jaded, and Hotel does not have the same buzz as last year. Last year there were lots of small touches like reserving us a table in the lounge so as we would have a table after our meal, bringing up ice to the room to mention just a few, we were treated like VIP's and the service was second to non. This time there were no special touches and we were a good bit late getting into the room as there was a power problem, we were asked to go into the bar and wait but they could not tell us how long - you think they would have offered us a drink for the inconvenience but NO and we did not really get a proper apology either, I am sure last year that things would have have been done differently.. They forgot to have wine in the room and we had to phone down and remind them that this was included in our package. For the money there are a great many other hotels in the area that would now be just as good. Do not think we will visit for my birthday next year.

I have stayed here before and always appreciate the wonderful service that I receive. The rooms are well designed in a modern decor and the food is first class.

The location is great and even though it is the middle of a very lively nightlife for those of us no longer interested in staying up too late the rooms were quiet and allowed for a good sleep.

We stayed 6 nights and we really enjoyed our stay. The staff at the reception desk was very welcoming. We had a room on 2nd floor and it was very quiet although there was noise sometimes from the alley at the rear of the hotel our windows were facing.
We had a luxury double room : it was spacious and had plenty of light due to large windows. We had a large screen tv, Ipod docking station, kettle and coffee tray. Our sheets were changed everyday and the towels were fluffy and soft.
We would have wished more space to store our things, we only had one wardrobe without any shelf in it and we partly emptied the only cabinet available to use two shelves. The weirdest thing was the "lighting board" : a combination of light buttons that could either light up or switch off the whole room and bathroom, but none of them separately... which was very awkward when one wants to go to the bathroom at night without banging into the walls or waking the roommate.
We had chosen a formula with breakfast included and breakfast menu was quite decent, we always took it in the restaurant room. We didn't have the opportunity to test the restaurant nor the bar which was very crowdy and noisy on week-end nights.
The location was perfect and very central, close to the shops, the restaurants and everything in town. The bus from the airport (diverted during the tram works) dropped us almost in front of the building and most of the buses in the city have stops within walking distance. Even the train station is not far from there. We would definitely go back on our next trip to Edinburgh.

This is by now hardly a hidden gem, so I'll just say that it merits its great reviews. The rooms and baths are huge, the amenities are pure luxury. But the key here is the staff, from the front desk to the restaurant -- they are young, energetic, and devoted to service. The location could not be better for exploring Edinburgh. Run, don't walk, to this place.
