This classical building is very striking and eye-catching, so we decided to visit.
Despite extensive renovations taking place, there are still lots of paintings and sculptures to view.
Each room is dedicated to a particular artistic era. My favourites are the Dutch Old Masters and the Impressionists- both well represented. It was also interesting to view the works of Scottish artists from different eras too.
A fire alarm sounded during our visit, so we were quickly evacuated by the calm, efficient staff. We did return a bit later to continue our viewing.
Although the closure of some rooms means that there are more paintings than usual in some areas, it is still possible walk through the various rooms without feeling rushed
A truly lovely gallery!.
