This classical building is very striking and eye-catching, so we decided to visit.
Despite extensive renovations taking place, there are still lots of paintings and sculptures to view.
Each room is dedicated to a particular artistic era. My favourites are the Dutch Old Masters and the Impressionists- both well represented. It was also interesting to view the works of Scottish artists from different eras too.
A fire alarm sounded during our visit, so we were quickly evacuated by the calm, efficient staff. We did return a bit later to continue our viewing.
Although the closure of some rooms means that there are more paintings than usual in some areas, it is still possible walk through the various rooms without feeling rushed
A truly lovely gallery!.

My family and I were walking by when we decided to go have a look we weren't here for very long but wish we had more time. I think you could easily spend 4 or 5 hours here. The history of Scotland seen on the walls.

Really pleased to visit the gallery and surprised by the selection of marbles and especially great portraits by many past masters on display. This is a must if visiting Edinburgh! The gallery was busy due to the poor weather outside ; however, still manageable to admire the art work comfortably.

We really enjoyed our visit despite a fire alarm going off and having to evacuate. The pictures are amazing and hung beautifully.

If you enjoy art- this gallery is worth a visit.
There are works by many of the really well known but also some less known artists.
Unfortunately when we went it was raining so was a little too busy for my liking but staff were helpful.
