Popped in for an impromptu early lunch with 10 of us and 5 toddlers. Didn't phase the staff at all and they were very welcoming. Great outside play garden for the kids that would be a sun trap on a sunny day. Only disappointment was that the menu available mon - sat (a more general bar menu) was not available on Sunday's. Rather it was a more expensive restaurant menu. It was nice, but we were not after restaurant food. We would definitely go back on a Saturday, but not on a Sunday again.

We made a drive specially to the restaurant and even thou we were late for our bookings, they manage to get us a table and we marvelled thru the dishes that were served. We order some of their specials and it was extremely good. There was an order for a sample for 5 desserts and it was a good representation for those whom only had limited time and wanted to try their desserts specials. Well done to the family whom have shown their passion in their food as they are being served.... Cheers

Thank goodness that this lovely Chef and family opened up this amazing restaurant on the South side of Edinburgh in Newington. Fabulous food and service. We are confirmed regulars and friends and family we have brought here also agree. The seafood cassoulet is a firm favourite. Looking forward to the summer when it will be possible to sit out in the peaceful rear garden.

My cousin learns of recommendations through his work as a taxi driver in Edinburgh. Cafe Cassis was highly praised by passengers so we had to investigate. On arrival, we were greeted by a chef as if lost brothers. The young French-accented maitre d' / waitress was equally welcoming with a charming smile which increased further in native tongue conversation. The restaurant is not large and the menu is not extensive but quality is better than quantity when it comes to choice and such is the case here ... the food was excellent - both in presentation and taste. Service was perfectly paced to allow each course to digest .. and, at the end, the cost was very reaonable for a 3 course meal. One disappointment ... Cafe Cassis was very 'quiet' last night - possibly because it was midweek. They deserve better support and I shall return one day soon.
