Friendly and helpful staff, and a lovely breakfast. Good walk, or short bus ride into town. Obviously staying only one night meant we didn't use the hotel to its full potential but we certainly had a comfortable stay in a charming hotel.

We were pleased with our stay at this hotel in the Newington area south of Old Town. It’s a long walk or a short ride into the tourist areas, and it’s nice to be in an area of the city that is more for locals. Dining options are plentiful in the area and transportation was not a problem.

The hotel is a smaller boutique hotel, with a small restaurant/pub doenstairs and very quaint garden/grounds out back. Our room was spacious with reasonably modern fixtures. Service at the hotel was good, although there are limited front desk hours. My only complaint was a weird shower design that made it virtually impossible to shower without getting water in the floor. Not a big deal.

We would stay again if we go back to the area. Good value for the price.

Clean room, friendly staff, great breakfast and 20 min walk to the mile. Slept well and on site parking which is a bonus so close to the centre. Quiet location, plenty of restaurants nearby. Bistro in the hotel, but only open from Wednesday.

The waitress/barmaid was charming and the food, drink and decor were all great. Highly recommended. There has been a refurbishment since our last visit and we will definitely be back.
Not over-priced and a good selection of dishes.

Stayed at the Salisbury for one night travelling as a couple, with breakfast included. I booked this trip almost a year ago mainly due to the fact that the hotel had onsite parking. When we got there however there were only 6 spaces (1 disabled) which were all taken - we parked on the street just outside hotel which was free at the weekend but there is a charge and limited stay during the week.
The receptionist who greeted us was very friendly and helpful and carried my bag upstairs - sorry I didn’t catch her name.
The room itself is quite small but nicely decorated, the bed was very comfortable and it had all amenities including hot chocolate, bottled water and lovely toiletries. The bathroom is tiny and is inside the room with just a sliding door so there isn’t a great deal of privacy!
The room seemed clean enough but we found a pair of glasses obviously left by a previous guest so it made me wonder how clean it was - on closer inspection there are parts that seem shabby and it could do with a lick of paint.
Breakfast was lovely, I had pancakes and my partner had the full Scottish breakfast, there was also a selection of cereals, fruit etc on offer.
Location wise the hotel is around a 25 minute walk from the royal mile area and we enjoyed walking to and from.
Overall we had a pleasant stay but we paid around £130 for one night and don’t think it constitutes this price. The staff were great, the room was nice but there are some aspects that let it down, including general cleanliness/tidiness and attention to detail. I would stay here again for a good price but wouldn’t pay over £100 for one night.
