Nice hotel with friendly, attentive staff, a large clean and comfortable room and a very good bar area. I did have some issues, so not a perfect stay - for example, the heating in my room didn't work on the first night, the shower tended to overflow v quickly and there was an issue with the in-room safe (wasn't able to open it and nobody on the premises until the following day to assist) but, even with these in mind, I would happily visit again and recommend to others. Thanks v much.

Amazing and unforgettable place for your stay at Edinburgh. Elena was attentive as ever, always eager to see if I was fine, so if you want to feel yourself being treated as a Royal figure, if you want to feel the true Scot scent, get to this club straight away. You won´t regret it.

We stayed here for two nights over the valentines period and enjoyed our stay very much. We stayed in room 3 which was a four poster room. The overall quality of the room was excellent with only a minor few let downs like a bulb not working in one of the lamps, however this did not deter from the impressive room.

The only disappointment was a noise coming through the wall, starting in the evening and ending at about 10 am the following morning. This noise only lasted for a few seconds at a time but woke my girlfriend up at 6am the first morning. Upon investigation the reception staff said it was a fan for the kitchen and it could not be turned off. However the following morning it didn't come on at all so did not affect us.

Overall the hotel is very nice to stay if not a little old fashioned, but this is all part of the character of the place. If you want modern gadgets in the room then stay in a mainstream chain hotel.

Would recommend.

Room tip: Pay a little extra than the standard room to avoid the basement rooms

Stayed at and attended a training conference in the RSC. Comfortable and relaxed venue, surrounded by reminders of the history of the Regiment. Original front part of the building retains fine original features, which add to the ambience. Spacious comfortable bedrooms, well presented and tasty food. Great location in New Town. Would use as a base if visiting Edinburgh for pleasure.

This is unlike most hotels in Edinburgh as it was established to remember those who have their lives from this regiment in the Great War. It is really distinctive and the memorabilia around the walls is fascinating.
The room was an amazing 4 poster bed, very comfortable and combined old world charm with first world amenities.
The food was well cooked, the bar area very cosy and friendly.
There are also lots of restaurants nearby of you want to eat out. The main Edinburgh attractions are close, but up a steep hill. I didn't drive here so I don't know about parking, but it is a short taxi drive from Waverley station.
The hotel has a lot of stairs and corridors, but there is a lift to all floors.
The business centre was good, although the Wi-Fi in the basement was poor.
The staff were helpful and friendly, it was very clean and comfortable all round.
