We went to Edinburgh to attend the Military Tattoo, during which the Fringe Festival was also going on. The hotel is on a good location being situated on the Royal Mile and was approximately a 15 minute walk to the Castle, taking onto account that the Fringe Festival was in full swing, a lot of street activities and shows been staged on the Royal Mile. The train station was about a 10 minutes’ walk to the hotel, but be aware if you go via Cockburn Street it is a very steep climb, but if you use North Bridge, to get to the hotel it is more of a of a gentle incline.

The room was very good, had plenty of space and air conditioning which was needed as it was hot the weekend we were there. The bed was also very comfortable and I was given the extra pillows that I requested.

Despite the late night activity and street noise generated by the Fringe attendees the hotel itself was quiet and window double glazing is excellent.

The check-in and check-out staff were excellent and very helpful we arrived early as we came by train. The reception staff managed to get our room a bit earlier for us.

Could not fault the breakfast buffet, even though it was busy at times.

Just one comment it was my birthday on the Saturday we stayed at the hotel, it would have been nice to have been given a drink on the house. The birthday cards in our room gave the game away!

Dear GlynisC579,

Thank you so much for taking the time to leave a review following your recent stay with us and sharing with other Trip Advisor users.

I hope you enjoyed the Military Tattoo - a beautiful and talented performance that we are so proud to host in Edinburgh each year.

I am happy to hear that you were able to avail of our unique pillow menu, after all, the perfect sleep is essential for a trip with a busy schedule!

In regards to your birthday, first things first, Happy belated Birthday! :)
& i am so deeply sorry that this was somehow missed or perhaps there was a mix up in the birthday amenities for your room.
It is myself who usually arranges the special occasions so if possible, may i please ask for an email of your the name of your reservation and arrival date so i can investigate further. My email is claire.calvert@radissonblu.com.
Either way, you would have definitely at least had a birthday drink on us so hopefully we will have the opportunity to make up for this error on a potential returning stay.

Warmest regards,
Claire Calvert

Myself and my partner went here (this was my first visit to Scotland since 1980!) and really enjoyed it. The hotel is in a great location and really nice all round - not the cheapest but you certainly see where the money goes and the staff are very approachable and efficient. Really hope we can visit here again in the future.

Stayed here with the wife for a break without our kids. Its such a great location and we took the train so didn't need to worry about parking etc. Rooms are very nice and the hotel staff are great. If you want a good hotel in the heart of the city, this is choice that should be towards the top of your list. Look forward to returning in the future.
