“above the station and under the castle”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 18 June 2012

Just aside the main railways station (Waverley Station) and connected to the Royal Mile by a "private" close this Jury's is really a perfect place to stay for a visit to Edinburgh; the reception personnel is formal, kind and competent, rooms are confortable, neat and silent, even those looking at the street. The view is OK, looking at the new town and Calton Hill, breakfast is at the averages; and last, but not leaast, the hotel is at a stone launch distance from the departure of all touristic tours and buses.
Suitable for groups and single tourists.

Just spent a great time in Edinburgh staying at the Jurys Inn ,Arrived on friday 15th june till 17th june. On arrival,we were asked to wait ,as our room was not ready (this was not a problem). We were given a superb room on the 6th floor with fantastic view over city and surrounding scenery (FAB) .Our room was spotlessly clean with all needed requirements..My grandaughter who is 9 years of age and myself enjoyed the superb breakfasts being served each morning ,and although my grandaughters breakfast was free ,i also was given a free breakfast voucher for the 2 days ,because our room was not ready on arrivall (another fab ).I would like to say a huge THANK YOU to ELA and INES on recpection for there great help and loads of information.,and their kindness to my grandaughter .They both deserve a Gold Star for their freindliness .and also a big thanks to barman from Latvia who kept my grandaughter up to date on her laptop .We will most definitely return to this great hotel Best wishes to all Mrs James and family.

Room Tip: high floors with great views and upgraded rooms

This was a very conveniently located hotel with a nice room. The staff could not be better. HOWEVER, the shower was a real nightmare trying to figure it out.... it was like trying to align all the planets. I am still not sure I figured it out..... I remember getting wet and standing in water. The staff allowed me to charge my camera battery at the front desk and were generally helpful with recommendations, etc. Wow, please someone do something about the shower gizmo.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a view of the hillside with the government buildings. You also see the train sta...

The hotel is very well located - just five minutes walk from the railway station though if you have a suitcase, the upward incline can be a bit tiring. The rear of the hotel has steps leading upto Edinburgh's most famous tourist area - the Royal Mile. This is just a 2 minute walk to the centre of the Royal Mile and another 10 minutes to the Edinburgh Castle.

The rooms in the hotel are standard, rather small though the beds are comfortable. The tub in the bathroom is a bit small and it does get difficult if you want to take a shower. One plus factor was the great view that our room had. We were on the 5th floor with a room facing the front overlooking the station and Carlton Hill with all it's monuments.

Staff at the hotel, particularly the front desk are very friendly and helpful . There is a small parking lot at the rear where you can park your park for short durations - however for long periods you would require to park in the adjoining parking lot.

The hotel is fair value for money at 150 pounds a night, though this is a bit high for a budget hotel. It is a good basic hotel at a fantastic location.

Room Tip: Take a room facing the front. The view is great
