“Great staff, good hotel”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 18 April 2012

Fabulous location in the city centre just up some steps and you are on the Royal Mile. The staff were efficient and friendly on reception, at breakfast and if you bumped into housekeeping. We turned up early hoping just to leave our bags and were delighted to be told we could have our room immediately.

We had a family room and the child's bed was a full size single which was a very pleasant surprise. The downside was an adjoining door which meant we could hear the family next door who kept later hours than us and they were not being unreasonably loud. On the other hand we were at the back of the hotel and train noise did not wake us (earlier reviewers have found otherwise).

Breakfast buffet was fine for the price. Both days the fried eggs were actually hot ! The man in front of me one morning wanted bacon more crispy and some soon appeared for him.

We booked at a discounted rate and this review is based on that not the stated full price which I would not have considered paying. If we return to Edinburgh we would see what rate it was available at in the hope of staying here again.

This was out first visit to a Jurys Inn and would definitely return. Ideal location, only 2 mins from Waverley Station and 5 mins from Princes Street. Breakfast very good. Only complaint is that there were only hand towels on arrival and I had to ask a second time before we received our bath towels. We had been upgraded to a superior triple room which we appreciated.

Stayed here with my wife on a bed only basis. Very close to the station if you come out of the Jeffrey St exit and just a flight of steps away from the Royal Mile. Great location if you arrive by train and want to walk around the city, everwhere that you may want to visit is within 1.5miles away. Reception staff are very welcoming and plesant. I don't realy know why people book B&B at this hotel as there are plenty of places to get a good breakfast at a reasonable price within 2mins walk of the hotel.
The only problems we found were that our room facing the station was quite noisy and the television screen was too dark to see the picture and you could not adjust the brightness. The biggest problem was that the toilet did not flush in our bathroom and although we reported this to the staff they seemed unable to resolve he problem. Tip: if you are staying in room 523 take a small toolkit to repair the toilet.
Overall, we have stayed in better hotels but have also stayed in ones a lot worse at an equivelent price.

Room Tip: If you want a quiet room select a one on an upper level at the rear of the hotel. If you don't m...

Stayed for 1 night in Jurys Inn, Jamaica Street , Edinburgh.

Location is ok but some colleagues had the sound of trains from station all night long.
Rooms at front where fine. Rooms at rear need avoided.

Rooms basic but practical.

Breakfast good.

Bar atmosphere and prices ok.

However - stayed in Premier Travel Inn in Glasgow City Centre 2 weeks ago and is was by far a superior hotel and stay, with great location too.

Room Tip: Please ignore pool score. There isn't one and I can't remove score.

This hotel is in the perfect location for visiting Edinburgh. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. They were also very knowledgeable of the area. I have stayed in other Jury's Inn's and would say this one isn’t as modern as others. Bed was quite small; the TV in our room was in a weird location from the bed. Rooms on the main road can be quite noisy at night but i would expect that in a city centre.

The hotel doesn’t have a car park which is usual for this chain. There is a car park nearby and is given at a discounted rate when staying at the hotel. It did work our around £10 a day.

I stayed out of season and the room was very reasonable per night, I am not sure it is worth the full rate which they charge during the summer months.

I stayed out of season and the room was very resonable per night, I am not sure it is worth the full rate which they charge during the summer months.

Room Tip: Rooms facing the road can be noisy at night but they have much better view.
