We visited this experience which included whisky tasting. The tour started with a history lesson in how whisky is made.

We then learnt about the different areas of Scotland how this affects the taste of the whisky. This included a talk from a guide and a card to smell the different whiskies.

Then into a tasting area followed by a visit to a collection of hundreds of bottles of whisky. The guide gave us lots of great information.

You then have the option to taste more.

The shop of course sold whisky but to be honest they were quite expensive compared to your local shops.

A great tour and would recommend.

The barrel ride is a bit cheesy but the rest was great. Get to try whisky from all over the country...

Highly recommended if in Edinburgh - the whisky bar at the end is a great place to try all manner of whisky at a very cheap price compared to other bars in Edinburgh.

Do the gold experience.

Although I am not a whiskey fun, I wanted to visit the place for the whisky tasting experience. The tour itself was interesting, although I was expecting something more interactive. We took the package with only two whiskey tastings, but still, it felt a little bit expensive.

I visited the Scotch Whisky Experience last month, and with a few reservations would recommend it to others. The experience is path-based and you are corralled into groups so are not free to go at your own pace. It starts with a Disney-style ride and follows through the process of whisky-making, aging and learning the character, styles and typical flavours of each region.

A highlight was definitely the concluding tasting surrounded by the world's largest scotch whisky collection. The store that followed also had some hard to find bottles.

If you're in Edinburgh for more than a day, I would recommend visiting this attraction, but if you're trip is short I wouldn't necessarily plan a day around it.

We decided to do the masterclass a good month ago. There was eight people in the class. Our host was Heather . Very informative and friendly. We learned so much that we did not know about whisky. We get it now. Thanks Heather
