“Beautiful!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 30 April 2012

Well tended gardens, really relaxing to picnic on the grassy areas. Close to Princes Street for some shopping and we were fortunate enough to be there when a band was playing. Great fun. Loved the ice cream vans too!

“Princes Gardens”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 30 April 2012

The beautiful gardens that divides Edinburgh in half, New Town and Old Town on either side, The Scots just congregate in droves at the slightest hint of sunshine and sit on the benches and eat their lunch, or read the paper or a book, and any event that takes place is usually in the Princes Gardens, right beneath the Edinburgh Castle

“Very Lush”

Nice gardens. Lots of construction on the surface streets at the time but well worth the trip into the City via bus to enjoy.

“Beautifully kept.”

The gardens are beautifully kept with plenty of benches. In a lovely position with the views of the castle and all the other lovely old buildings.

“Beautiful park in the shadow of the castle”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 27 April 2012

Maybe 3 stars is a bit unfair; it's just that there are some parks (especially in Glasgow, 45 miles west of Edinburgh) that seem to take more care. It is wonderfully located in the centre of the city and you look up to the castle on the south side and Princes street on the north. In terms of location, it has it all. It is quite long and not much "depth" if you see what I mean, so you don't get the open air feel of London's Hyde Park or Glasgow's Queens Park. Great place for a lunchtime stroll or picnic with some interesting benches. Maybe it shoud be 4 stars!
