Booked a twin room as a surprise for my friends 50th birthday as we were going to Edinburgh Playhouse. Check in went ok, first impression of room was good until we looked out the large window, wheelie bins and two men sitting smoking on the ground. Phoned reception and asked for swap but was informed hotel was full - this was 2pm! Closed the curtains and decided to go for a swim - pool nice but surrounding area very wet - flip flops required. We went out for dinner and to the theatre and on our return fancied a cuppa - eugh mugs were dirty. I scraped the coffee off the bottom with a spoon but by this time decided to pass on the coffee!! Slept well in a comfortable bed until awoken at 5.50am by the rubbish and laundry being taken in and out of the corridor and door next to our room. Lovely breakfast and attentive waiting staff did little to make up for the disappointment I felt at this "birthday treat" for my friend. Did mention these things when I checked out for which I was given an apology.

Excellently situated at the far end of Princes Street. Immaculately presented public areas. Friendly and helpful staff. Breakfast was delicious and lots of choice. Didnt get to use the spa as the weekend was planned out for the group, which was a shame as i love spas. The hotel was part of our package with 'Bespoke Weekends' and the value for money was amazing. Rooms were very clean, spacious and the beds were so comfortable!! Elemis products to use too and of course your complimentary take home Apex duck! Only problem we had was on return one afternoon our room hadnt been serviced but this was corrected within 20 minutes while we went off for a cup of tea and they couldnt apologise enough. Would stay here again and again..fantastic hotel!

an excellent hotel. we held my daughter's 21st birthday dinner and ceildidh for 60 at the hotel in march so have experienced everything bar the spa.... too busy for that. the party was brilliantly organised - with charming waiting staff, computer connections and screen for photos, the room looked lovely, incredible attention to detail (moving tables slightly after dinner to allow for the rather chaotic sassenach dancing), whisking off for extra gravy etc etc ) and putting out A RED CARPET across the pavement. what a lovely touch - made the guests feel very special. neal in particular needs especial mention, he was wonderful. the guests were very happy with their rooms ( 4 rooms) and enjoyed their hearty breakfasts. the food at the dinner was extremely good - amazing as we ran 40 mins late , poor chef! the night before we had gathered up 8 or so students and spent a very "merry" time in the comfortable bar area sipping prossecco. we would all recommend this hotel. next time i hope i'll have time to try out the spa. and roll on the graduation party ,,,,,,,,

We chose the Apex Waterloo Place for out first ever visit to Edinburgh, and are so glad we did.
What a wonderful hotel, from the moment you step through the doors, only a few minutes walk from Waverley Train Station, an excellent base to explore Edinburgh.
We were greeted with a big smile ,from a very friendly check in agent.
Check in was quick and painless.
We were given a lovely room on the 7th floor, spotlessly clean and very comfortable,a great bathroom with a huge bath and seperate shower .
We only ate breakfast in the hotels restaurant, but that was very nice, a good selection of hot and cold food ,served by very hard working staff.
We wouldnt hesitate to recommend this hotel or stay there again on our next visit to Edinburgh.
Thank you Apex.

Travelling with 2 girlfriends we opted for a little luxury and we weren't disappointed. The spa, the bar, the service was excellent. Our room was really nice too we shared and didn't feel crowded at all, the bathroom was very spacious. The hotel was hosting a huge wedding and reception was busy (but more to the point: this hotel is happening (all ages) and popular) all of our requests and enquiries were dealt with friendly professionalism even though they were extremely occupied. The spa is lovely and the swimming pool is worth a visit, just to freshen up and unwind.
The interior and decor are very tasteful, chilling out in the hotel's bar whisks you back to a glamourous time as they've preserved all the original features of this impressive historic building.
The only gripe was breakfast, extortionate prices but just pop around the corner to "Cafe Marlyne", the eggs florentine was yummy!
