We chose the Apex Waterloo Place for out first ever visit to Edinburgh, and are so glad we did.
What a wonderful hotel, from the moment you step through the doors, only a few minutes walk from Waverley Train Station, an excellent base to explore Edinburgh.
We were greeted with a big smile ,from a very friendly check in agent.
Check in was quick and painless.
We were given a lovely room on the 7th floor, spotlessly clean and very comfortable,a great bathroom with a huge bath and seperate shower .
We only ate breakfast in the hotels restaurant, but that was very nice, a good selection of hot and cold food ,served by very hard working staff.
We wouldnt hesitate to recommend this hotel or stay there again on our next visit to Edinburgh.
Thank you Apex.

Travelling with 2 girlfriends we opted for a little luxury and we weren't disappointed. The spa, the bar, the service was excellent. Our room was really nice too we shared and didn't feel crowded at all, the bathroom was very spacious. The hotel was hosting a huge wedding and reception was busy (but more to the point: this hotel is happening (all ages) and popular) all of our requests and enquiries were dealt with friendly professionalism even though they were extremely occupied. The spa is lovely and the swimming pool is worth a visit, just to freshen up and unwind.
The interior and decor are very tasteful, chilling out in the hotel's bar whisks you back to a glamourous time as they've preserved all the original features of this impressive historic building.
The only gripe was breakfast, extortionate prices but just pop around the corner to "Cafe Marlyne", the eggs florentine was yummy!

We stayed in one of the downstairs rooms which only had a small window. However the room was still airy and comfortable. The room was spotless and the bathroom had a massive bath, perfect for relaxing after walking up to Edinburgh castle. The location was close along Princes Street, good for shopping and close to the sights.

Room Tip: Bare in mind the standard rooms downstairs only have very small windows.

Having spent this week at the Waterloo, I can safely say it is my favourite Edinburgh hotel so far. It is very modern inside, classical outside. The staff were excellent, really helpful and professional. The room, mine was on the 10th floor was fantastic, not massive, but beautifully furnished, fantastic TV, superb bed and pillows and a lovely, decent sized bathroom with big wet room type shower. I ate a couple of times in the hotel over the week, and the food was, in my opinion, excellent, as was the room service. Luckily I am back in there next week and very much looking forward to it.

My husband and I had expected the Apex Hotel would be a just a “run of the mill” hotel in downtown Scotland. After touring all day at the Old Course at St. Andrews we drove into Edinburgh and discovered the Apex Hotel was located in the heart of Centre City Edinburgh. We did have to park and walk a short distance from the Car Park that the front desk had suggested we use, however, they did help us with a discount to that particular Cark Park once we had checked in. We received our key, found our room, and it was lovely; a beautiful corner room with walls of windows on one of the top floors. The room was also equipped with a key insertion/ removal system that turned off all the room lights when we removed the key, so we had no need to walk around the room turning off lights before we left. We had been staying in small bed and breakfasts all week, so this was nice a surprise to be in the spacious corner room of such a trendy, upscale, boutique hotel. Knowing we were only staying one night, we had left our suitcases in the car and only brought in an overnight bag. I was so pleased to see the room included bathrobes for our use. The restroom was nicely appointed as well. Room service was ordered, came very quickly, and was quite good; the bedding was full and luxurious, and we enjoyed our last night in Edinburgh very much.
We had breakfast in the dining room, as our room rate had included either a continental or a full breakfast. We easily could have gotten on well with the smaller breakfast, but since this would be breakfast and lunch for the day we decided to go ahead with the full breakfast. It was very good and the service was fine.
This hotel is located near the train station; however we never heard a single bit of noise, so I’m sure the convenience factor would have been a plus had we needed it. We would definitely stay here again!
