A beautiful castle is a beautiful setting. Worth a stop. You can enjoy a tour of the castle and also the grounds. There is plenty of places to walk and explore. There is free parking and a cafe on sight.

Unfortunately the Castle was closed on our visit as it only opens up in July and August each year. But we had a lovely albeit wet walk around the Gardens and called in the Dumlanrig Tea Room also got talking to a lovely lady in the shops there with her little dog very friendly.

on advice we headed for this castle but sadly on arriving we found it shut. From the outside it looks amazing & its set in wonerfull grounds & it houses a Leonardo da Vinci oil painting of the madonna so it would have been great to gain access. Sadly we where told by the curator of another local museum that to save costs the owner had decided to shut the castle for part of the year & this has had a knock on effect on the local economy which is partly dependent on tourisim. Its a shame because otherwise this looks a great place to visit

Lovely place with amazing scenery. Went with a friend and the kids all under 6 and they loved the adventure playground. It was well equipped with toilet facilities throughout the grounds. Lovely cafe with helpful staff who did not seem to mind over excited kids making some noise. Castle was closed during our visit but still found it a nice day out as there was plenty grounds to walk around and exhaust the kids.
