“Fantastic House”

Set off the main road with a long sweeping drive it's a beautiful house which is very well equipped. The kitchen had everything we needed - 2 fridges, plenty of utensils and lots of space. We enjoy cooking when we all get together. The house in general was perfect - lovely comfy beds and rooms full of character. Lots of games and things to do for the whole family,

The lady who met us, Isobel was very knowledgable about the area and the house. We enjoyed the wood fires which are great as long as the wind is not too strong. The conservatory is HUGE and it's lovely with everyone sitting in there with the log fire burning. The hot tub is wonderful with a fabulous view. The BBQ cabin is also a good addition - we didn't use it but you could have a BBQ whatever the weather, it's a great space.

During our stay we visited Alnwick Castle, Edinburgh and Hawick town has everything such as supermarkets and shops. We had lunch one day in Night Safe Bistro which was good and also The Mayfield in Hawick served great home cooked food.

Lovely house, perfect for a get together, we would like to come again - we thoroughly enjoyed our stay thank you.

Liked best: The beautiful conservatory was a lovely place to relax in the evening, and the hot tub was much appreciated!

“A perfect retreat”

This was an absolutely perfect weekend for our singing group. The house is fantastic, so well appointed and really had everything we needed. The beds were all super comfortable, the bathrooms were sparklingly clean and lovely, plenty of hot water for us all as well (there were 9 women so we use lots!) The kitchen had everything we needed and we just had a great time.

It was particularly lovely to have the fire laid in the little sitting room. I'm guessing the house hadn't been stayed in for a while as it did take a while for the conservatory to heat up - the wood burning stove was lovely but it just is a big cold room to heat. If you come in January take plenty of warm clothes and your slippers. We had planned all the meals and didn't plan a barbecue but then we wished we had - that hut looked just the cosiest ever. Next year we will come back and bring some steaks!

The isolated location was perfect too as we were doing lots of singing, and being able to unwind in the hot tub was such a treat, despite the rain and cold (it was January!) we were completely toasty in there.

Would completely recommend this property to anyone, fantastic value and really luxurious, and we will definitely be coming back next year. The one piece of advice I would give if you are cooking is bring a sharp knife, the knives were pretty blunt although completely understandable given the nature of the property!

“Fabulous Holiday Retreat”
Reviewed 25 November 2015 for a stay in November 2015

My family (9 adults and one dog) enjoyed a long weekend break (Friday to Monday) to celebrate my 50th birthday. We enjoyed a formal meal in the dining room. All cooked in the kitchen which was very well appointed and clean and tidy. On the Saturday evening we entertained guests for a buffet supper and most people congregated in the spacious conservatory with the cosy wood burning stove. Sunday afternoon we had a winter BBQ in the purpose built hut. We were joined by the grandchildren who had great fun playing in the enclosed garden. The festivities were concluded with a Murder Mystery evening on the Sunday night. The hot tub proved a big hit - we climbed in at night in temperatures below minus 5 and the tub was toasty and warm. A fantastic house in a fabulous location - I would have no hesitation in recommending it to friends.
