The Angus Folk Museum is still on the most recent tourist map we have and we were really disappointed to find it closed because of the building's condition. This is a National Trust for Scotland property and I am surprised that the organisation has not identified funding to make the building safe so it can be re-opened. Some locals we met thought there may be plans to move all the contents to another NTS property. This is clearly a poor option. The old cottages of the current museum are of great character and well worth conserving.

This closure is a great pity as it is in TWO parts - the row of stone roofed cottages and the agricultural museum opposite. The cottage roofs needs costly repair work however the other part is separate and could be open to the public if the NTS so desired. That part houses the agricultural historical artefacts - including the horse drawn hearse, much local historical farm implements and buildings whose contents illustrate typical farm cotters lifestyle and the history of farming over the years in the local area. Perhaps the NTS might consider opening this part over the spring summer season next year - with a little persuasion?

Sorry this is now closed indefinitely awaiting funding for major repairs to the buildings. I've been told this could take more than five years before anything can be done

The museum has been closed for a couple of years or longer due to the roof needing repairs which is sad as it was very popular as it is at the gates of glamis castle there is no sign of it opening in the near future

This National Trust for Scotland property is closed and It would appear all the contents moved as the roof requires attention but the NTS seems not to have much interest in wee properties such as this and Barries Birthplace in Kirriemuir !
