Group of 3 between ages 21 and 30. We didn't acutally stay at the Iona Inn. When we showed up to check in, we found out that there had been a mistake and an overbooking. There was no room for us. What could have been an awful experience, was avoided. The Iona Inn was very kind and had booked a room for us in another hotel across town. They even covered the difference in price. Thanks!

This is a tricky one to rate. We booked 2 rooms for 5 of us, a triple and double. When we arrived and checkin in at the pub the young man was very helpful and moved us to rooms on the same floor and we ended up with a room with a double and 3 singles and and a room with a double and single. The rooms were large and very spacious and quite clean. On the first morning the shower in one room did not work and as there is nobody at the reception desk ( we didnt see anybody the entire time we were there) we mentioned it to the kitchen ladies and that night the shower was fixed. The breakfast was lovely and the ladies did a great job with our bacon and eggs and brought out loads of toast :) The location is good, very quick walk across the bridge into the main part of town. Im not sure whether it was the location or the town itself but there was lots of rubbish around which made it feel a little dirty at times. We didnt ever feel unsafe as such but the general area felt a little unkept, but thats not the fault of the Iona. We were given car parking across the road behind the Dominos which was great.

My husband and I stayed here last year and had a great time, yes, you do have to go into the pub next door for your room key but I certainly did not have a problem with this, it is an Inn not a hotel. The room was modern and clean though when we arrived a bit cold, breakfast in the morning was lovely although the breakfast room was cold also. The bar next door was great fun and people very friendly, we enjoyed our stay so much we booked again a few months later with booking.com for £35.00 some of our friends decided to join us and I booked them in by phone ( without asking the price) as I knew the Inn wouldnt have to pay the commision, thought I was doing them a favour as the place was already very reasonably priced, Again we had a lovely stay but when my friends went to pay their bill they were charged £10.00 extra for each room as they didnt book over the internet !!! Would certainly stay again but will book over the internet.

Room Tip: Book over internet not directly with the Inn

Only stayed there on Sat the 28th of Jan. Parking across the road, loads of spaces and cheap. Great atmosphere with the staff. Lovely breakfast. Nobody else complaining. Good location. Extremely fairly priced. Happy days. Would definitely go back there if visiting the city again and have told my friends about it.

Possibly the worst place I have ever stayed in. On arrival we had to go into the pub and the person behind the bar had no idea what was going on and tried to find our names in a book that lokoed like it was falling apart. After some time he informed us that they only had one room left and we would have to share (even though we had booked a double room each!) I asked to speak to someone in charge and there was no one until the morning. There is no reception and no staff available at night! There was so much noise from the pub that night we could hardly sleep and we couldnot close the window as it was broken, the walls had slime all over them and the room was smelly and not cleaned at all. There was no hot water in the morning! When we spoke to the manager the next day she was incredibly rude and offered no apology for the mix up stating we were the ones who made a mistake not them! Even though we had both booked at seperate times! Crazy! Breakfast was a disgrace everything was burnt except for the toast ironically! And the whole time we ate the staff were looking at us and extremely rude! i WOULD NEVER EVER STAY HERE AGAIN AND NOT RECOMMEND IT TO ANYONE! HORRIFIC EXPERIENCE!

Room Tip: it seems alot of the windows are broken in the front of the hotel and the back also when speaking to...
