“Wonderful farmhouse, very well-equipped with very welcoming owners”
Reviewed 4 weeks ago for a stay in October 2018

We didn’t book through trip advisor but wanted to post a review here as the farmhouse is so wonderfully peaceful and relaxing. There are 4 bedrooms including one with bunk beds which our 8 year old loved (including the cuddly toy). The kitchen is fabulously equipped with lots of cooking basics there. We found everything we needed in terms of crockery, cutlery and kitchen equipment. You can get food delivered by the local Tesco but we tended to shop while out. There is a large Tesco in Newcastle. The farmhouse has a lovely garden and plenty of games inside and outside. There is plenty to do with kids around and about e.g at the Mourne Archery Centre and at Coco’s adventure playground in Newcastle. There is also pony trekking nearby which we didn’t try as the weather was too rainy. You will need a car if you stay here as it is about a 7 minute drive from a town, Castlewellan. Can’t rate the owners highly enough. Hazel is a fabulous host and super helpful. Would highly recommend this place for anyone looking for peace and quiet, with plenty of space.

“Beautiful well equipped house”
Reviewed 30 October 2017 for a stay in October 2017

Beautifully restored old farmhouse. Very comfortable, big rooms and very well equipped kitchen, Lovely safe enclosed garden and even outdoor toys for the kids in the summer house. Comfortable beds and our kids loved Tony the white tiger who lived in the top bunk - he came on all our walks in the beautiful surrounding area with us! Would definitely hope to stay here again.

“Idyllic tranquil setting with all amenities”
Reviewed 20 May 2017 for a stay in April 2017

This is the second year that a group of us have taken our spinning wheels, knitting needles and fibre to spend a relaxed weekend in Hazel's lovely house. Last year we sat around roaring log fires as it poured outside. This year, we spent our time outside spinning in the sun, listening to the sound of the bees hard at work in the garden, or in the conservatory which has been added since last year. The nearby Maghera Inn was a great place to go for evening meals and the quiet roads nearby gave some of us the opportunity to take a scenic walk along hedgerows of gorse in full bloom with its characteristic coconut scent.
We always feel so refreshed and energised after our 'retreat' weekend - we'll be booking again for next year!

“An amazing, relaxing home”
Reviewed 26 April 2017 for a stay in April 2017

I only wish I booked a longer stay at the Cherry Tree Farmhouse. Hazel has a very well appointed home that has anything that you could think of needing. My wife and I enjoyed using the fireplace in the evening and it was very spacious for my children to spread out and relax in. The Mourne Mountains are beautiful and there are a number of excellent restaurants in the area.
