Stayed at this hotel 12 years ago when owned by another brand and it was great. Obviously a lot has changed since then - This hotel had a great little bar that overlooked a busy courtyard. and decent furnished room. On my arrival at 8.30am, I was told couldn't check in until 3pm - which didn't matter as I had to go off to an important meeting which would take up the rest of the day - But come on - 3pm is really very late for rooms to become available. Secondly the room/s were shabby (Room 501) and the lights outside the lifts was 'sensor operated'. It was like some old scrooge landlord was running the place - It just made the hotel feel really cheap and depressing. Which it is - Bedding and linen was very poor and the facilities awful - The bar has been closed now - permanently it seems - I know this is a budget hotel, but there are better places to stay in this great city, which are far better value for money and far more of a pleasant experience - The only good points was its location and the reception girl who was nice and helpful and also quite embarrassed at the state of the place. Gave the downstairs eatery a miss - it looked just as bad as the hotel room. They say never go back - on this occasion that advice is so so true

Dear Ejs12
Thank you for leaving your review.
The hotel has been a travelodge for 14 years, and I actually worked in the hotel before it was taken over by Travelodge so I am very familiar with the improvements to the hotel since then.
Our advertised check in time is 3.00pm however if rooms are available we do allow guests to check in or leave bags until the room is available, some hotels have a 2.00pm check in time however they also have expect guests to check out at 11.00am and not 12.00pm.
The room 501 is a standard travelodge room with a flat screen television, the energy saving ‘sensor operated’ lights are part of our commitment to reducing our carbon footprint and is the current industry standard best practice.
The linen is provided by the largest supplier of linen in Belfast and the same quality of linen is provided to all hotels in the city.
Olio restaurant is attached to the hotel and run indecently by a well respected local restaurateur with over 30 year’s experience which is far superior to the restaurant which used to be on the first floor (not the bar).
I can assure you that none of our staff are embarrassed by our hotel.

kind regards

Garry Gaynor

2nd time staying in the Travelodge in Belfast. Location is just perfect, a few minutes walk from the city centre, a stone throw away from amazing places such as The Crown Bar, Robinson's, Cayenne Restaurant ... . The rooms are basic but clean and offer all one could need. The beds are comfortable ; the staff is friendly. Dogs are also welcome which is much appreciated ! The Olio restaurant, next door, serves (good food at a good price) until 9:45pm which was perfect and welcome as we arrived late. The only down point (which doesn't hinder my overall 10 out of 10 mark) is that the hotel doesn't have car parking or any agreement with a local car park. The hotel is so central, one doesn't need to use the car if staying put in the city. The nearest multi-storey car park is a 5 minute walk away. Thank you.

Very good value for money as the rooms are very spacious. The room was clean and semi-modern. Fantastic for location and if staying here I would highly recommend walking a few blocks to The Bridge Inn for a great economical and delicious meal! Parking situation was not ideal. You either have to park on the street or pay for overnight parking in a car park. In addition, I find it ridiculous to charge £5 for wi-fi.

Dear Trillianv
Thank you for taking the time to leave your review.
I am pleased read that you enjoyed your stay and as you mentioned the location is excellent.
Like all central Belfast hotels we do not have our own car park we have special rates for residents at a nearby NCP or on street parking outside the hotel which is free after 6.00pm.
The WiFi is £5 for 24 hours which is good value compared to other hotels and is free in our lobby.

Kind regards

We stayed overnight on 30th January 2012 and had a room for the disabled on the first floor. Everything was fine clean and cosy. Generally couldn't have asked for more. The only slight problem was the noise from the lift door as it operated a short distance away. This however stopped by around 10pm and we had an undisturbed nights sleep.

The adjacent restaurant Olio's served excellent food and the staff were equally good. We went for a meal at 6pm and realised later gthat hey do a special menu after 7pm Mon-Fri where we could have save a good few pounds. Breakfast the next morning was again just fine and most welcome.

It is what you expect and pay for at Travelodge. Cheap and no frills. Was fine for a couple of nights.

We had the 'lovely' view of the bins behind the pubs nearby that others have posted on here, but we just closed the curtains.

Room was small but cosy, bathroom was even smaller, a shower cubicle might have been better as no one could fit in the bath anyway!

My only real annoyance was the reception staff seem to spend a lot of time in the office behind reception and there is nothing really to alert them that guests are waiting at the desk.

It is however very central and everything is walking distance. I would recommend the city bus tour and Harlem cafe for breakfast was fabulous and a couple mins walk from the hotel.

Overall the hotel was fine for a central base.
