“Decent hotel in student area”
Reviewed 24 March 2012

I stayed one night in this hotel, surprisingly located in a street of student accommodation close to Queen's University. That makes for a lively streetscape and a variety of eateries and charity shops.
The hotel is very fresh and modern and my room was modest in size but nicely and simply furnished. The view of the car park and railway line wasn't inspiring but there wasn't too much noise from the railway traffic so sleeping wasn't a problem.
Only criticism of the room would be the TV - reception is poor so you cannot get main channels and in my room it was positioned in such a way as to be very hard to watch.
Breakfast was lovely - pancakes, berries and maple syrup; lots of other choices on the menu too.
I'd stay again if I wanted to be handy for the train or that side of Belfast but I have preferred City centre hotels on previous visits for overall quality of the accommodation and location.

Room Tip: I suspect rooms at the front will be quite noisy during the university terms as the street is full o...

We had a 2 night stay in this great little hotel, along with our friends in a second room. We found spotlessly clean, comfortable and well appointed rooms, within an easy 15 minute walk to the centre of Belfast. The breakfasts were excellent and freshly cooked.
If we ever come back to Belfast, we would certainly return to Tara Lodge, easily one of the best places we stayed in Ireland, on either side of the border.

First time in Belfast and won't be the last. We timed our weekend to coincide with the Sheffield Steelers playing the Belfast Giants (what a waste of time that was !!!) but even that total let down didn't spoil a fabulous weekend. The city has so much to offer but didn't have anywhere near enough time to appreciate everything so we'll back back and will definitely stay at Tara Lodge. Our room (16) was spacious, clean and comfortable, the breakfast quality and choice were second to none and the staff couldn't do enough for you. Can't wait for the 2012/2013 season to start to make another visit (hopefully with better hockey!).

We stayed at Tara Lodge for our 3 night stay in Belfast - a Christmas present from my wife. The hotel was perfect for our needs - 10/15 minute walk into the City centre with some superb restaurants even closer. The staff were just amazing - very friendly and helpul with nothing too much trouble. Breakfast was outstanding - it just makes me wonder how other hotels can get it so wrong!! And our room was perfect - good size and spotlessly clean. Made up prefectly each day while we were having breakfast.

The taxi firm recommended by the hotel for the tour of the morals etc were excellent - a must do and great value.

We will be returning to Belfast to see the new Titanic exhibition and to experience more of the warmth from the people in Belfast.

There's only one place to stay!!

Have just returned from a 3 night stay at Tara Lodge where we celebrated our 35th Wedding Anniversary. Could not have chosen a better hotel. We were in Room 17 which was so modern, big and comfortable. All staff were so friendly and helpful. The breakfasts are the best we have ever had in any hotel and we have stayed in many over the years. I don't like porridge myself but my husband said the "winter warmer" was to die for. The choice of menu is excellent and the food is freshly prepared when ordered. The hotel is in a quiet street off Botanic Avenue and is a 10-15 minute walk from the town centre. Although the hotel does not do dinner there are lots of restaurants and bars in the area. We went to the St Patrick's Day Parade which was great to see and the atmosphere in the centre of Belfast was electric. We will definately be back to stay at Tara Lodge and will certainly recommend to friends and family. Excellent value for money. A big thank you to Tara Lodge for the Belgian Chocolates we received from them on our anniversary. Our weekend was made so special.

Room Tip: Corner suites are large and sunny
