To view this you have to walk half a mile across a golf course, mind the odd grumpy member. There's very little of this castle left, but it does offer a view of what might have been here. The views are spectacular though, so worth the effort.

Tried to walk Pwll ddu head yesterday with visitors. This is part of the official 'Welsh National Trail' on National Trust Land and about 1 mile east of Pennard Cliffs & castle.

Appalling conditions. Cattle have broken fences, poached gateways and turned the coastal path into a quagmire for 50% of the distance between Pennard & Hunts farms.

Found 6 visitors from North America just about trapped by the condition on the pathway.

Despite this being an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty the National Trust as landlords are making the cliff footpaths impassable. It is sheer lunacy to encourage cattle on these lands. Despite the claims of their environmental benefits each of the cattle is approximately 8 times the size of an average walker and left to roam they are wrecking the environment and paths. Their presence serves NO environmental benefit, but is destroying a national treasure.

Don't walk Pwll ddu head unless you are wearing waders and ready for a considerable struggle.

Fantastic Place - The View Is To Die For and We Had Gorgeous Weather !!! There Isn't Much Left Of The Castle Just Ruins. But It's Still Beautiful & Can Be Seen For Miles Around Because It's On Top Of A Big Hill. To Get Here You Need To Walk Through Pennard Golf Club & They Own The Castle & Grounds & They Maintain The Ruins. I Would Definitely Recommend A Visit XXXX Its Definitely Worth A Look

Accessed by foot from nearby Pennard or Southgate (park by the excellent Three Cliffs Coffee Shop & enjoy their excellent range of cakes with a post walk tea or coffee). The castle was abandoned together with its nearby church ruin due to sand encroachment. It now offers commanding views to the nearby Three Cliffs Bay estuary, which can be accessed with a walk down the sandy paths.
