This is tiny castle you have to walk to but get to explore, play hide and seek and have a picnic enjoying the view. To get back down to the footpath you have to walk down a sandy slope, although running is the best way down and lots of fun!

You have to walk to get to the castle as there is no access by road, but it's definitely worth it. There is not that much left of the castle as due to its location, shifting sands and weather erosion have caused much of it to collapse over the centuries. It was abandoned because of this at the beginning of the 16th century. The gatehouse, with towers on either side, is the best preserved section and make a lovely photo opportunity, What really makes the walk worthwhile are the beautiful views of Three Cliffs Bay and the small river flowing into the sea. Well worth the effort on a sunny day.

A delightful piece of history at a dramatic location, perched on the hill overlooking the stream at Three Cliffs Bay
Interesting view, several walls intact and partial rooms. No history on site, just left to the elements. Nice views and gently meandering path down to Three Cliffs afterwards.

Pennard is a beautiful place, but a bit inaccessible, so if you like walking, [not too difficult], then it's worth going over the Downs.
