This is one of my favourite places to visit in Cardiff, a place I have visited thrice with different friends. It is a huge place so budget an entire day - please do wear comfortable walking shoes as you'll need them. Old houses have been painstakingly moved brick by brick from various parts of Wales and have been reassembled here. It is interesting for adults and older children - as the museum creates an opportunity to visualise the lives of people who lived in the past. Younger ones will have fun simply running around. The keepers / caretakers are extremely knowledgable, polite and courteus. Do ask questions and you'll get a wealth of information in return. The gardens are nice too.
Take a picnic lunch as there are a number of lovely places for a scenic picnic. You can also buy nice cakes from the little bakery on the reconstructed high street.
Free Entry, but a car parking charge. Alternatively a direct bus link is available from Cardiff Central Station
