This production was given 4 stars in the review Hub but in reality it is definitely a 5 star production.

Gary Griffiths as Marcello, Dominick Chenes as Rodolfo and Jihoon Kim as Colline were all faultless. Both Marina Costa-Jackson as Mimi and Lauren Fagan as Musetta we perfect. I had seen Fagan sing at Covent a year ago but she is either still developing or much more suited to this role. I cant wait to hear Chenes and Jackson again and I will watch out for productions they are in.

This was my second visit to this theater and it will not be my last. it is truly beautiful with wonderful acoustics. Light up at night the front vista is something to wonder at. Great value as well compared to the ROH.

Both of us love good music and this was my treat for Mary for letting me come into Cardiff and stay with her. We ate out and then enjoyed the rich music and the story of star crossed love.

The structure was huge with a copper roof and beautiful cut-out letters with the name in Welsh and English. We were taken to a side area where there was a restaurant. They gave us a wonderful meal and lots of singing and entertainment, in English and Welsh.

Wales own professional opera company is based at the Millennium Centre in Cardiff Bay. They are a very accomplished company performing opera favourites but also some of the less known.
Performances in the Millennium Centre are usually well attended so book early to get the seats and the days you want.
There is an excellent "Friends of Wales Opera" you can join which will keep you informed.

Outstanding vocal and acting performances and a darkly imaginative production with plenty of humour. Don't miss it if you get a chance.
