Visited here today as party of 5 for lunch. Food was tasty and reasonably priced. You order at bar and can choose where you want to sit. Plenty of tables inside and out. Food came quick and staff very friendly.

Really nice beer garden with children’s climbing frame. Our four year loved playing outside.

Deserts were not as tasty as mains a bit too big portion for me and children’s chocolate ice cream was a bit runny.

Would return and recommend.

Thank Harbir P

I went to the BC with my girlfriend on date night. We’d been here before but I’d never felt the need to make my feelings public. The food was delicious and arrived promptly. The waiters were helpful and friendly. The black cock is a nice quiet pub with top quality food. The service is great and has been great both times we’ve been. What made me write this review? In one word....Libby! We’d made the mistake of going out on fight night and couldn’t get a taxi home. After an hour of ringing everyone imaginable, Libby offered us a lift home to Ponty out of the kindness of her heart. This was a lifesaver and was so kind hearted. Libby dropped us off after her shift. If her manager reads this then please give Libby some recognition. She has gone above and beyond what is expected of her and you’re lucky to have her. No doubt she’ll go on to other things soon so appreciate what you’ve got while you’ve got it. Thank you sooooooo much Libby. Well praise you at every opportunity.

A table of 8 of us visited on Sunday for lunch hoping for a lovely meal as a couple of the party had visited recently for a meal off the open menu that they had enjoyed. Unfortunately, today this was not to be! The service was shocking with having to wait for over an hour for food, when the food did come, 2 of the meals were incorrect. I always say that, I can forget all things like that if the food makes up for it. Not today! The gravy was nice but that was the only nice thing I can say about the dinner. When the waitress came to clear the barely touched meals she asked if we’d enjoyed to which we did sat we had not been overly impressed with, she had no interest in hearing this at all and didn’t even acknowledge us saying it. Won’t be coming back!

Went out for Sunday lunch with family having booked a table for 2.30. Got served at 3.50 which is far too long waiting. No apologies or offer of discount for poor service except to be told that they were busy. Clearly understaffed which is such a shame as the food was good.
