Unfortunately the tide was in when we arrived, but the harbour was nice enough, but nothing special. Not much open in the town. The pub had no food on as the chef was off. Pretty dead on the main street.

We have driven past Cemaes Bay so many times over the years while on our way elsewhere. At last we turned off the main road for a look and so glad we did. High tide meant very little beach but the harbour and a lovely walk along the old tramway that used to link a brickworks with the harbour provided an interesting diversion. I liked the relaxed attitude of the car park attendant as we almost had to force the parking charge upon him. A relaxing sit on a bench overlooking the harbour inspired a poem which I will risk repeating here (well, you don't have to read it)......

In Cemaes harbour

Ariadne, Hydra
and Moody Blue
cow-tow on a high tide.
Serene hulls,
red and blue,
gently dip into the soup
of their own reflections.
Seagulls regroup
on cliff-top perches
as they must,
when silenced
by the breathless summer
and a mean shoreline
that forms a narrowed crust
around the bay,
while empty chairs
on rooftop terraces
await the cooling
of the day.

The beach provides a beautiful sunset and is a great place to relax or go for a stroll. It allows dogs which seems to be dog route, popular to the locals. The car park is easy to access and is only £2 for the whole day. Drink and refreshments can also be purchased by the beaches car park
