“A paradise on a trout stream in the Welsh mountains”

Penlan Cottage is a superb place to stay if you are looking for spectacular views, comfortable accomodation, wi-fi, large kitchen, great family bathroom, lovely terrace on a stream full of trout and salmon, peace and quiet and perhaps the finest pub in all of Wales with terrific food and a large terrace within staggering distance. The owners could not be more helpful. The area is a walker's paradise. Good selection of shops, restaurants within a few miles. I will definitely be going back to this gem.

“Well-equipped and spacious cottage in beautiful location.”
Reviewed 8 January 2014 for a stay in December 2013

Stayed at Penlan cottage with young family (and dog!) for Christmas week. Decorations and Christmas tree were provided which gave the cottage a lovely Christmas feel. Plenty to do in the area and lovely walks straight from the cottage. Would definitely visit again.

“A great cottage in a great location”

We booked Penlan Cottage at short notice to enjoy the autumnal hues and the beautiful scenery and had a marvellous week with our family.
The cottage is very well appointed and in the perfect position on the banks of the River Dee. The owners could not be more helpful with a welcome pack to greet you.
The Grouse Inn did good food and real ale, and parking just 35 yards from the cottage.
The Llangollen steam railway trip to Carrog station was memorable, as were visits to Lake Vyrnwy and Pontcysyllte Aqueduct.

“Fantastic Location”

I can't add a lot more than what has already been said about this cottage on the banks of the River Dee. This was our second visit and this time we spent only 2 nights, it was supposed to be 3 but we wanted to get home before the much publicised storm on Sun/Mon night! We were very comfortable, cosy and warm in Penlan and felt relaxed even though it was such a short stay. Only minutes from the Grouse Inn with it's good pub food and friendly staff, what more could you want!

“Great place to stay - highly recommended”

Spent 3 nights at Penlan Cottage with 6 adults and a 4 year old. The cottage is perfectly located with great views over the river Dee and bridge. Rooms are comfy and spacious. Cottage has everything you need and the welcoming pack (bread, egg, milk etc) was very much appreciated. It's a very short walk to the Grouse Inn pub which does fantastic food (especially their chicken curry). If you're thinking of booking this cottage, do it!
