This was our favourite hotel on the Welsh leg of our honeymoon (and it had nothing to do with arriving glowing following wine and cheese at White Castle Vineyard!)
We were lucky enough to be upgraded to room 14 which was more of a suite with separate sitting area, heaps of space, spotless (it smelt lovely too) elegant furnishings, a large bed (I think a super king like ours at home) and the best pillows too; I had to buy new ones after we got home because we were ruined!
The bar areas are great. Not pretentious and really comfy. A great way to start and end your evening. I enjoyed a colour changing gin and tried working my way through the wine list; it’s a shame we weren’t staying longer.
It’s in a good spot (not noisy at all) and we were lucky enough to get a parking space, I think guests arriving later in the day might struggle with that. A short 7 min stroll into the centre of town.
We saved the best breakfast until last too; they went out of their way to get some gluten free bread for us, in addition to a wide spread of fruit, yoghurt, salmon etc (the boiled egg machine was a definite hit!). The takeaway cups for coffee were a nice and welcome touch for the journey home; would definitely go back and jut gutted couldn’t be there for the food festival next month.

We recently spent one night at the Abergavenny Hotel, and thoroughly enjoyed our brief visit. We arrived early, but were able to check in as the room was ready- we were grateful ,as we were able to freshen up before going on to a party. The room itself was spotlessly clean and very comfortable with everything we needed. Breakfast was 'buffet' style, and excellent. Lots of fresh fruit, fruit juices, cold ham, smoked salmon, cheese, croissants etc. We were able to boil our own eggs and toast to go with them. Thoroughly enjoyable. Thankyou- we shall certainly stay again if we're in the area.

Stayed here for 2 nights and wished we could have stayed longer. The hotel has been beautifully renovated and is very comfortable. Breakfast is continental but delicious - proper squeezed orange juice (not concentrate rubbish) and brilliant coffee. Fresh fruit was also just that - freshly prepared, not the horrible stuff supplied by the likes of Brake Bros. This hotel gets it right! Jackie, the Manager, was ultra-helpful and made us feel very welcome. Would not hesitate to go back.

We stayed here recently for a single night while visiting Abergavenny for the first time and using the hotel as a base for the Brecon beacons.

We'd started with the sister hotel ("The Angel") but this was full and the Abergavenny was suggested to us as an alternate and we took it.

It turned out really well - the hotel is just at the end of town making it a really quick & easy walk back in and we met Jackie on reception who was really friendly and we were shown to our room.

The room here was fairly simple but it was spacious, had everything we needed and it was spotless (as are the public areas etc). We had a good night's sleep and checked out the next morning having had a good stay.

One thing I'd flag - we chose to eat up the road at the Angel both for dinner and breakfast which is an option so I can't comment on the breakfast at the Abergavenny other than to say that from what I saw of it when checking out it looked great & next time around I'd just eat breakfast here rather than walking up the road.

The hotel was a immediately off the road with a small car park, luckily we got a space. The foyer, bar area is beautifully decorated and the staff are really nice and helpful. The nice decor continues into the rooms. We bathroom was a good size too. The bed was very comfortable and generally We were Lucky to have a decent size room. The only drawback was that there was no AC and we've had very warm weather. They do provide a fan which helped a little. We would both definitely come back again.
