Sadly this place is going down hill for tourers and campers. Such a shame as it's a perfect location for Caernarfon and surrounding areas. We came last year and it was cramped but now it's just rediculous. Tents are kept to one side of the touring field , backing on to the entrance road. You can't park by the side of your tent , you must park Infront , so you literally have a long row of tents , side by side , with 2 metres between each tent and cars parked at the front of each tent almost bumper to bumper for the whole length of the camping field. Forget sitting in outside your tent on a summers day enjoying the view, you're just surrounded by cars... You'd be better off parking in kwick saves car park to be quite honest. Obviously coed Helen would rather penny pinch than provide a nice environment for ' guests'.
Toilets are really shoddy and showers dirty whole block needs knocking down and replacing.
The guy in charge of the camping area, giving out your ' welcome pack' , was actually a really pleasant chap ...he wasn't here last year, and probably won't be here next if he has any sence . The woman with long blonde hair in her 60s on reception has about as much people skills as a dead rat ! Nope ,,,,sorry , won't be coming here again

Hi Ferrilyn,

Thank you for taking the time to provide a review of your experience with us.

In my honest opinion the majority of the issues you refer to are resultant of a visit to us occurring during the highest point of the high season (Fri-Sun in the summer holidays). That is representative of a very small portion of our season. For the majority a stay with us differs markedly from your description. As you state our location is perfect, maybe this explains how busy we are, specifically across summer weekends?

All our pitches are of ample dimension, comfortably accommodating the largest of motorhomes. A busy touring field is resultant of demand. You will not find us decreasing pitch size to squeeze more units on when demand is high as other sites may or may not do! All car owners are, subject to available space, welcome to park at main reception if they do not want to obscure their view. However, most will understandably opt for the convenience of having the car close at hand, not a decision we can influence.

As to the staffing issues you raise I have a large volume of owners and touring guests who know such sentiments are wholly unfounded.

You have my assurances (those of the rather pleasant chap you cite) that if you did join us on a date that was not a peak weekend in peak season your experience would be more in line with your apparent expectations.

Kind regards, Ben - Park Manager

Most of the park was set out for static trailers. Caravans and tents are put in a small corner together. Not enough showers or toilets. Everything else, reception and laundry on the other side of the park. The whole set up suggests they don't really want tents or caravans/ camper vans there. No map of the park was given to us or other people there that we spoke to. At £28 per night it was a rip off. Unless you want to stay in a static trailer look elsewhere. It has a pool but only for people staying in static trailers.

Hi Jason,

Thank you for taking the time to review your experience with us.

We are a large holiday park for static caravans and lodges (over 200 units) but make every effort to ensure our touring guests feel welcome and valued here at Coed Helen. I apologise if the time you spent with us failed to deliver on this, that is not our intention.

The various services such as launderette, restaurant etc. are located at various points around the site so as to be accessible to all. Whilst we are a large park all such facilities can be walked to in a matter of minutes from the touring field.

Given the size of the touring field to state that 'caravans and tents are put in a small corner together' is a misrepresentation of what we offer. Our pitch sizes are of ample dimension for even the largest of motorhomes, or twin axle caravans with awning and car. With respect to the toilet block we are confident that the four ladies and four gents showers/toilet cubicles serving 40 pitches are sufficient even during the busiest peak mornings and to my knowledge have never previously received complaints of a similar nature.

Once again I apologise we did not met your expectations.

Regards, Ben - Park Manager

We’ve been going to this campsite for a few years now and are noticing a difference every year,I’m beginning to think they dont want tourers there. Last year touring visitors were stopped from using the pool - that was a big shame, but this I just felt the place was being run down, the shower block is in dire need of a facelift as are a few of the water and electrical points, some hoses were off the taps and drains were blocked. The warden has left/moved on and has not been replaced, some touring customers pitched up over the weekend and did not speak to a single member of staff, they were told over the phone to just pitch up anywhere. Overall it was an ok weekend but that was down to the location not the campsite.

Thank you for taking the time to review your experience with us.

Unfortunately we have had difficulty in recruiting a reliable warden this year. Given that those interested in such roles tend to be in season-long work by spring time we have not been able to find a suitable replacement for the remainder of 2018. We have every intention to have a warden or warden couple in place for next season.

Removing pool access from our short stay touring guests was not a decision we took lightly, however, several lengthy pool shutdowns due to improper use by short stay guests meant we had little choice in the matter.

Whilst we do monitor the cleanliness of the shower block regularly through out the day and inspect all other facilities we obviously cannot remedy problems of which we are unaware of, problems we are aware of we always endeavour to remedy as soon as practically possible. In this instance the blocked drains were resultant of certain non-waste items being disposed of incorrectly.

We take great pride in the overall quality of our touring field and guest experience and do hope that you will join us once again.

Thank you for taking the time to review our touring field at Coed Helen.

We take great pride in what we offer so your positive comments are greatly appreciated, such feedback justifies the effort we go to daily to ensure high standards.

As a note the current price for stays during the summer holidays can be found at a reduced rate during off-season dates.

We would be delighted to welcome you back to Coed Helen in the future.

Visited again following our visit last September. Arrival was easy, just rang the number and the warden welcomed us. Tents were on the left which suited us just fine. Warden came down to us and brought the paperwork to us, no trek to the reception!

This visit the shower block was kept clean, with daily cleaning visits. Plenty of hot water and good pressure on the showers.

Still love the easy walk into town. The site was lovely and quiet, but we did leave before the school holidays started.

Will definitely return.

Thank you for your positive review.

We are more than happy to head down from reception to meet and greet our touring guests. We can obviously only do this when (I presume like yourself) a call is made to us to announce your arrival.

We make every effort to keep the facilities clean and well stocked, always keeping a close eye throughout the day.

The walk in to town is very convenient indeed, with the castle and old town only a few minutes walk away via the footbridge.

We take great comfort from reviews such as this and very much look forward to welcoming you once again.

Regards,

Ben - Park Manager
