Single room was more like a budget hostel than luxury hotel. Basic furniture that was dated and broken. No lift, had to struggle up steep stairs. Tea and coffee tray was found on the floor under the desk. Food was nice.

We booked 2 family rooms to cater for 1 OAP, 2 adults 2 teenagers. Positives - rooms were large and appeared clean.
Negatives - woefully understaffed, staff attitude = lacklustre and couldn't care less. In room 19, the heated towel rail was on full blast, broken and could not be turned off. Due to the very hot weather, my 89 year old Mum couldn't handle the extra heat in the bathroom so ended up swapping to share with us. Rung reception - not interested. I see now from other posts this is a long term and common problem, clearly one which will only be fixed when a toddler or someone has an accident and burns themselves on the towel rail (these are family rooms after all).
The food at breakfast was passable, but again staffing issues meant that the buffet continually ran out of staples such as fruit juice, preserves etc. We ordered 2 full English, one with scrambled egg one with fried, 2 pancake breakfasts and one just hash browns and beans. When they arrived, my Mum's had fried not scrambled - it's not rocket science. We queried and the waiter shuffled back into the kitchen with the plate only to return with the same plate and mumbling that scrambled eggs would be delivered soon. That didn't happen of course, but he couldn't have given a toss. We could overhear another table complaining that they were still waiting, so not just us. Seemed they had just one cook in the kitchen.
Overall the decor is tired, bathrooms and fittings have seen better days. Imagine Fawlty Towers but without the (misplaced) zip and enthusiasm of Basil and Manuel. One to avoid.

The primary purpose of a hotel is somewhere to sleep. I had room 3, above the kitchen extractor fan. It howled away until 10pm then started up again at 6am. I asked for a different room but the lazy guy on reception said the hotel was full (It wasnt) as he couldn't be bothered to do anything. Apart from that the hotel was quite nice and clean

I was a customer of the hotel and was told there was no need to register my vehicle as the parking cameras were not working. I was subsequently fined by the parking operator.
I was then re-assured by the hotel management that because of the confusion all fines that had been issued were being cancelled. This is not the case and I currently appealing the fines and waiting to go to court to fight the charges.
The hotel allowed a 3rd party company ( UK Car Park Management ) to operate in their car park without regard for the adverse impact on customers and so far are abdicating all responsibility for the subsequent charges. I assume that ‘UK car parks’ were making a payment of some form to the hotel operator and this was not just an exercise in adversely impacting customer relationships. Either way it show a lack of customer focus and disregard for customer experience.

Booked an "accessible" room (disabled) was given a room on the first floor, three lots of steep stairs and no help with the bags.
The only thing stopping anyone from falling through several holes in the floor was the carpet.
The bathroom..... A large crack in the washbasin with a very sharp edge to it, no handrail in a very slippy bath and long black hairs all over the bathroom.
on complaining we were moved to a "proper" disabled room on the ground floor right next to the function room with a wedding party on until midnight with swearing right outside the room and banging on the window. Heated towel rail on full in spite of the very warm weather and no way of turning it off. very small wash basin (cloakroom size). walk in shower doors were rusty at the bottom and the curtain had seen better days. Fire alarm went off at 11.30 (false alarm) and a fire bell IN THE ROOM. Had dinner in the restaurant on the Saturday night. one waitress on doing everything..... and not very well. Didn't have a clue on serving drinks. the food wasn't the best and kept getting the wrong things brought to the table even though there was just another couple in there.... one place I'll never go again.
