Description: Bohemia is a Modern British restaurant situated in Birmingham’s buzzing Selly Oak area. This exciting addition to Birmingham's restaurant scene adds a continental feel to the area. It blends a bistro cost with 5-star/fine dinning food quality. Open almost all day, you can pop in for an afternoon lite bite with fair trade coffee or enjoy the more formal evening air at this smart and contemporary establishment. True to its name, Bohemia offers wonderfully relaxed and chilled vibe, and diners are made to feel instantly at ease. Head Chef Ross has created an exciting Modern British menu that changes monthly so you have a new array of choices upon every return visit. Diners love dishes like herb sausage, black pudding and duck egg terrine with plum tomato chutney; poached cod fillet with garlic, chilli and coriander butter; slow-cooked rib of beef with chorizo, dauphinoise potatoes; and Pimms and lemonade jelly with homemade strawberry clotted cream ice cream. Bohemia runs regular jazz nights, acoustic nights and comedy evenings.

The waitress was very nice and helpful and works very hard. Unfortunately my steak was the worst I have ever had. It was as tough as old boots and had fat all the way through. Maybe the chef was having a bad night, but if he continues to serve food like that he wont get many customers. Because we had a groupon it had already been paid for, so we could,nt refuse to pay. My husband and I certainly wont go back and will make sure all our friends wont go there either.

We do sincerely apologise for the experience. We do pride ourselves with the quality of food and our steak is adjudged one of the best in UK if not Europe, hence our surprise.

However, we do understand that freak accidents do occur to the meals, and a simple calling of the Waitress' attention to the steak issue when you noticed it while dining would have led to an immediate retrieval and fresh preparation of another one or replacement as you so desire, no fuss no questions. We even make it a point of duty to ask our clients about their meal especially if they don't finish it.

Was the attention of the Waitress called to the dissatisfaction/Was this feedback passed to the waitress?

We do apologise once again for the issue and we would ensure to make it up to you when next you visit us. Kindly contact us by email.

We have long been fans of this little restaurant and did not realise it had changed hands. Took a Chinese guest for lunch on the basis that the food is consistently good. We waited an hour for starters which were mediocre when they finally arrived. Main courses were another half an hour, there were half a dozen people dining. Waitress was apologetic and polite and explained that the kitchen was under staffed but it did not make up for what was quite an embarrassing experience. Such a shame.

A mid-week visit to this (very) quiet eatery. We had a reservation, but were never asked about it, nor was there a table laid for our number.
Nevertheless, the waitress was charming and took drink orders that were delivered quickly. The food took rather longer, however with the first course arriving after about 30 minutes. It was pleasant enough, but was in my opinion really too large to be a starter.
Then there was a hiatus of nearly 50 minutes before our mains arrived. My pork was tender and flavoursome, though I thought the vegetables rather over-cooked. A chicken supreme was nicely cooked, but we thought that it could have benefitted from some vegetables as well as the champ. Again, meals were definitely on the large side.
It is nice to think that the tasty food is being freshly prepared, but we thought that the gaps between courses were much too long.

We live locally and ate here last night on the Groupon deal. We were warmly welcomed by the lovely and efficient waitress. There were only 4 other diners when we arrived, but it soon filled up. The music was at a perfect level to allow us to chat and be heard without being obtrusive. We had mackerel and goats cheese to start which were both excellent - large portions. The bread and dipping oil was lovely. Previous reviews have suggested that the wait between courses is too long, but we found the timing perfect - proving each course is freshly cooked. The mains - pork loin and steak were both delicious and served with a good selection of fresh vegetables. We didn't have room for dessert but those served to neighbouring tables looked delicious. The wine list was fairly extensive and we enjoyed our choices. The waitress is a great asset to this restaurant - very professional and efficient despite being so busy. We had a lovely evening and would not hesitate to recommend this restaurant.

Staying nearby for a family reunion, I researched for somewhere to eat and this seemed to be the only possible. I emailed from their website to ask about parking but got no reply so, using map, drove to Lottie Road behind restaurant and parked there.
Welcome and service was good from Doris (pronounced Doree) , but I was surprised to find there was no soda so my spritzer had to be with tonic! Food was excellent and tasty, but the masterpiece was the dessert which was a mini baked Alaska large enough to feed two!

Thank Saraki
