Visited Newcastle for work and stumbled across Zapatista. Funky looking place with seating on the ground floor and more upstairs.

The menus are clearly displayed behind the counter and you pick what you want and then build it up bit by bit. The counter is set out much like subway, so you can see the freshness of everything and are able to try a little of the hotter salsas before you buy.

I opted for quesadillas with spicy shredded beef, it was absolutely delicious. I’m a fussy eater so I had it very plain but they had tonnes of options, three or four different salsa’s etc. I also had one of their Mexican Jarrito drinks (guava) which was delicious.

The food is excellent and very reasonably priced. You can also take away. The staff are excellent, very friendly and explain everything for you. Visited twice and will defintely be back again on my next visit.

This is easily my favourite burrito bar in Newcastle! Brilliant variety and flavours with all the different ingredients. The butternut squash and halloumi is delicious. You have the option of guacamole which they don’t always ask you if you’d like, but it is 80p extra if you decide to have any! They have loyalty cards which you can ask for and after ten stamps you can have a free dish of your choosing. Really tasty burrito bar, average price of a full sized burrito is about £5-6. Brilliant go to Mexican place :)

Stopped here for a reasonably healthy lunch and wasn’t disappointed. The process is standard burrito joint, and the fillings are generous and delicious. It was great to find a place that does very hot salsa too! Washed down with a cold Jarritas, it was a really tasty lunch - highly recommended!

I love popping in here before an event as it's quite cheap for the amount of food you get and the service is quick. £7 meal deal is of good value - burrito, fries and a drink. You sometimes have to wait for the fries to be cooked but it means they are served fresh. A nice, healthy 'fast food' alternative to the usual McDonald's, Five Guys etc.
