I’ve being staying in Newcastle for the past seven years and have stayed here many times. As Holiday Inn’s go this is one of the best because of price, bars and the restaurant. The only reason I haven’t stayed for a while is because newer IHG properties have opened which are more central as well as other brands.
I actually prefer the double beds as the King’s are too big! Asked for the quieter back of the hotel and was given 205. Other Holiday Inn’s should take note and offer the items in the minibar in all rooms (unlike the vast majority that only give them in Executive Rooms).
I thought the staff at breakfast were really nice and liked the IHG Elite table idea but I’m sad to say that I actually think the overall quality of the breakfast has dipped. This Holiday Inn used to have the best breakfast in the country (based on my experience of being IHG Platinum Priority Club member for 17 years) but no freshly squeezed orange any more. The hot items tasted ok, didn’t look as appealing as they used to.
Check in/out both fine. Do wonder if the green bedroom decor is starting to look a bit dated but I still love this hotel and would definitely stay again.More
