“lovely food and surroundings”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 25 February 2012

i don't live in newcastle but whenever i am in town i always eat at jack sprats. the food is always delicious and the staff are exceptionally friendly, especially the manager who goes out of her way to please everyone. I especially love the sweets. the vegan cheesecakes are amazing!
i love the relaxed atmosphere, it's a genuine family-run cafe with a wide choice of food. i am not vegan but i definitely don't miss the dairy products in the food served at jack sprats

“Lovely little place”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 23 February 2012

I recently dined here with my friends, we had the deluxe hot chocolate, a mozzarella and spinach panini and a plate of cheesey nachos. Everything was delicious and easy on the wallet. The cafe is very cosey and relaxing, excellent music, perfect place to go after a long day. Staff were very friendly and the service was quick. I will be sure to make Jack Sprats a regular thing!

“Hairs in food!”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 18 February 2012

Being Coeliac I was obviously looking forward to going to Jack Sprats.
However, there was a hair in my starter. Yuck!! :-(
I thought I'd give them the benefit of the doubt, ordered spaghetti for main-was ok. Bit bland. Basically I could have cooked something 10 times better at home.
Wanted to try cheesecake and was throughly disgusted again by the fact there was ANOTHER hair in it!
Needless to say wont be going back.

“not the best”

Good if your into that sort of thing, like if you are a hippy and have made up allergies! Waited a while for food, and was poor.

“Very Disappointing! An injustice to vegetarians!!”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 8 January 2012

Went for an evening meal and was really looking forward to the experience. I have been vegetarian for 25 years and went with my husband (non veggie). Thought the menu was very limited and not the same as the one on their website. starters arrived and i had not 1 but 2 hairs on mine, i let them know but didn't want a replacement, my husband had pea fritters, these were bland and very heavy. our main meals although edible were again very bland. I would be suprised if the chef is vegetarian, i can't understand why herbs, spices and flavours weren't added to the food to provide good taste. For a vegetarian/vegan restaurant i would have thought the menu and food to be more innovative.
however we didn't mind the corkage charge as it's only £1. wouldn't go back there but would always recommend Sky Apple cafe.
